What prolific and hateful political writing? There seems to be a great deal of disagreement as to what forums he belonged to.
The Norwegian Police have said that he had posted about what on this side of the pond is sometimes termed the "cultural war": immigration, demography, identity, and politics in the broader sense", but that he didn't belong to any known extremist factions, and had no criminal record except for some minor offenses.

The motive for the attacks was unclear but this morning police said the shooter was co-operating. 'He is clear on the point that he wants to explain himself,' said a police spokesman.

Also reports are still saying a car bomb, but looking at some of the photographs (particularly in The Daily Telegraph) the damage looks more like a truck bomb and a fairly big one at that.
Yes, since he apparantly was using fertilzer and bought 6 tons of it, I would agree a truck bomb (or at least a van) would be more likely than a European car. Pic of damage to building:

I won't worry about the guy's well being in captivity notwithstanding the enormity
of his crime. Norway has the world's most humane prison. The general public would
want rehabilitation not revenge. Norwegians is a peaceful people who would
give the Nobel Peace prize to a warmonger. He will be well protected and live the
rest of his life peacefully in the prison.
Hopefully fellow prison inmates will have a nice chat with him so he can divulge his political agenda.

That's pretty much how it seems. He was pissed off about Norway's policy toward immigration and afraid his white land might become increasingly "tainted".
