For myself, I listened to classical music throughout college, it enhanced my concentration. Any other form of music would just annoy me. Being classically trained (I'm a lapsed cello player) I could never fall asleep to it.

Don't get me wrong. I don't relax much, so the fact that it relaxes me is a great thing.

Francois Couperin's The Mysterious Barricades as envisioned by Terrence Malick (The Tree of Life).

Actually, I was thinking about this scene, which still brings tears to my eyes 20 years later:

One of the best movie scenes ever.

sooo when are we having a Terb Opera night at the Performance Arts Center? I'm sure we have a good balance of guys and girls... perhaps get a special box seating and get some action going on in there during intermission, continue back at the hotel after? xD

A stunning array of beautiful women have taken up the violin. Before you let your imagination run amok, she was 16 when she played this at The Proms.

I have always enjoyed Claude DeBussey's " Claire du Lune ". Beautiful piece of piano.
Here is a link to the closing scene from the Movie Frankie and Johnny (Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer)

Also anyone remember the scene from the Dudley Moore/ Bo Derek film TEN. They are discussing music and Ravel's Bolero is the topic. Moore asks Derek what she likes to do when she listens to Bolero and her response to him is... Fuck!

On January 21 I'll be at Roy Thompson Hall for a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20. I consider it his finest work. It was way ahead of it's time and set the table for the grumpy deaf guy.

This is a great thread and one of my favorite on terb.

I grew up on heavy metal music and now am getting into reggae to get my game b4 seeing some MPAs, however I find Classical music to be most inspirational especially when I connect with MPA or SP on an emotional level.

My top 4 are:

André Rieu - Love theme from Romeo and Juliet ~ My fav love song ever.
André Rieu - The Godfather Main Title Theme (Live in Italy) ~ This one is so powerful especially this performance in Italy, very hard to hold back tears.

nuvole bianche ~ I get inspired by this one especially this video and the beauty of this planet.

André Rieu - My Way ~ Another very inspirational piece.

Andre Rieu's adaptation as appealing as it may be is not the real thing.
You may find the themes Nino Rota wrote for Romeo and for Juliet in
the original soundtrack or Carlo Savina's rendition of the love
theme more closer to a classical music experience.

There are orchestral film scores that incorporate some elements of
rock music like this one.

Thanks for the info. I agree that these may be more superior technically or more appealing to the majority and are nice to listen to. However, I feel Andres versions in my heart, and that video compliments the song perfectly. I believe that he has so much emotion and soul and it comes across in this music. Each time I listen to his version I get the shivers and to me is far superior then even the original. I do not know technique only what I can feel or what touches me and I can connect with them. This has to do with my personal experience and connecting with his vibe.
