From Genghis Kahn to JS Bach

Genghis Kahn spread his seed far and wide, Janos Starker has his genes. He has spent most of his life championing the music of that most humane of all composers.

As Alanis Morrisette would say, isn't it ironic.

Thanks for the info. I agree that these may be more superior technically or more appealing to the majority and are nice to listen to. However, I feel Andres versions in my heart, and that video compliments the song perfectly. I believe that he has so much emotion and soul and it comes across in this music. Each time I listen to his version I get the shivers and to me is far superior then even the original. I do not know technique only what I can feel or what touches me and I can connect with them. This has to do with my personal experience and connecting with his vibe.
+1 I'm a fan of Andre Rieu and agree with your comments 100%

Creation, Nature, the Universe -- what's it all for?

It's for Mendelssohn to write his 1st piano concerto
It's for Yuja Wang to play it.
It's for us to hear it.

Perhaps it is because of its short duration this work of Robert
Schumann for piano and orchestra is rarely performed. To me
Schumann's Introduction and Allegro appassionato deserves
to be as popular as the composer's A minor concerto.

Was shocked by the extreme tempo of this rendition of
Berlioz's Rakoczi March the first time I heard it. The normal
duration for this work is about 5 min. Somehow I thought
Karajan actually got it right after all upon repeated listening.

A waltz is a ballroom dance in triple time with a strong accent on the first beat.

The Viennese custom is to slightly anticipate the second beat, which conveys a faster, lighter rhythm, and also breaks of the phrase. Strauss would sometimes break up the one-two-three of the melody with a one-two pattern in the accompaniment along with other rhythms, maintaining the 3/4 time while causing the dancers to dance a two-step waltz.

I've done it to Beethoven's 6th a couple of times, but Rite of Spring will throw your back out.

I am of the view that Stanley Kubrick's use of classical music pieces like
Blue Danube for 2001 instead of the original music intended for the movie
provided by Alex North was an unfortunate mistake. The
use of instantly recognizable overwhelmingly powerful classical
is more of a distraction than providing an effective background
underscoring to complement the visual images. I am sure some other
choices of classical music for the Enterprise docking scene shown
her would capture the audience's attention immediately. Thankfully
not every director is like Kubrick.

Not so much classical although I do like some of it. I've played in Concert Bands for many years and am a former Canadian Forces musician .
But my main love growing up and still is the Drum and Bugle Corps activity as I am still playing at 58.

Never really cared much for The Planets, but you've gotta say this matches the music to the occasion.

Love classical, ESPECIALLY during traffic. Calms me right down.

I couldn't name specifics of who I like, but I have a certain style I do like, so if it's not on 96.3 I just turn to whatever other station is playing something I like.
Are there any other stations for classical besides 96.3?
