ummm, how can you possibly say Ronaldo is better then Henry? Right now Henry is wayyyyy better hands down...Ronaldo is getting fat and slower while Henry just scores and scores and scores, 35 goals this year, thats amazing!

Ronaldo is on the decline and is therefore NOT better than Henry

Oh my god we can argue about that for hours but IMHO Ronaldo is a tad better than Henry. He plays in a slightly better league than Henry also.

I would respectfully disagree with you on that. The English Premier League has become the prime football league in the world while Serie A has gone down. The Spanish Premiera has some great players, but no the amount that are in England. IMHO.

n-v, I just love it when a canuck comes on this board and thinks he knows soccer. The English premier league is IMO the most entertaining league in the world but it is NOT considered by pundits, by experts, by fans and by UEFA to be the BEST league in the world. You see country leagues get points on how their teams perform in european cups.
(see website: http://www.eurotopfoot.com/paysgb.php3 )
From there it is decided which leagues are top ranked in Europe. Look closely and you'll see that England is ranked THIRD and NOT first.
This also decides which country gets how many champions league spots. Now for once n-v I want you to admit you were wrong and not retort with some stupid argument. I think you meant that you think England has the most fun-to-watch league and I kinda agree with you but it is NOT the toughest league in Europe.

Ronaldo has 24 goals in Spain's La Liga (he is topscorer and his nearest competitor has only 19). Henry has 29 which is superb, but it is in a lesser league. How on god's green earth can you say Ronaldo's numbers are fat and lazy??

Hey handsome.....where did you grow up?....isn't it in Canada?....by the way, we have at least one thing in common, until France got better, I always supported Holland....since falling in love with Ajax when they destroyed Benfica in Paris in 69 .

thanks Ben. I was going to respond but why bother. Johnny seems set in his ways and not interested in a differing of opinions, much like some others on this board.

And for the record, ben hur, no I didnt grow up in Canada, but I love both countries!!!

No problem Johnny....I grew up in Paris and lived 3 years in Milan, but that doesn't make me better than canadian fans at judging football players......just gives me more stories to tell......lol...that's all...I'll be on your side of the fence everytime Holland plays....enjoy!

If you've lived in Milan then I have just 3 words for you:

Gullit, Rijkaard and Van Basten!!!!!!!!

Ok...thats more than 3 but who cares.

Ronaldo is THE best striker in the world as much as I hate to admit it. Second best is Henry and 3rd is Ruud v. Nistelrooy (he grew up 60 km from my home).
JohnnyH,

You disappoint me, I thought you had quite an extensive knowledge of Soccer, but with this Statement, I think I was wrong.
Ronaldo is not even the Shadow of what he used to be (he used to be Good while he was playing in Barcelona and his first year at Inter Milan) since his injury, he is just not playing as he used to. He still is better than an average Striker but here are some strikers I would pick over Ronnie :

1. Henry (obviously)
2. Ailton (0.92 goals this season... the man is on Fire)
3. Schevchenko (he is doing Very Well This Season)

(I would even Pick Makaay and Van Nistelrooy but this season is not so Good For Them)

I used to Be a Ronaldo Fan, But now his game is not what it used to be.

I disagree snook. Ronaldo has been very consistent this year in the Spanish league which is a notch better than England.

Well...you seem to know the Orange...do you remember the Bergkamp goal against Argentina in 1998?.....what a masterpiece!....I still have that game on tape and occasionally watch it.... its like watching a master with his brush...

http://simsim.rug.ac.be/staff/rob/flowresearch/

with the Maradona goal against England...its one of the great ones.

Nicest Dutch goal was scored by Arie Haan on Dino Zoff in '78 world cup. A canon blast from midfield that the Italy keeper barely even saw, nevermind could react too.
A real beauty!!!!

Actually Zoff watched it curl in, and did not move, not realizing that it would go in, thanks to the incredible talent Haan had.
The first goal, Brandt's shot, was a cannon!
But I still prefer the Bergkamp goal because of the 3 stages of that goal, killing de Boer's pass in full stride, moving inside away from Ayala and curling his shot around the goalie.

Here and there
Well, first off, I'm a huge Man-U fan, and don't care at all for Arsenal...

But now that that's out of the way...

A heartfelt congratulations is in order to the Gunners on their league championship, with one of the most consistantly dominating season-long performances in a very, very long time. To still be in sight of an unbeaten Premier League season is astounding ! Well done, Arsenal !
