My fave of the last 10 years is Dark City. Highly recommended if you have not seen it.

After that... The Fifth Element... holds up well... and I love Mila J...

Others I like:

Aliens
Contact (surprisingly good I thought)
The Day the Earth Stood Still
War of the Worlds (loved it as a kid)
The Thing (remake.. love this one too)
Andromeda Strain
Pitch Black

Burbs Boy
Aliens
The Day The Earth Stood Still
GATTACCA
The Terminator
Contact
Planet of the Apes
Bladerunner

All these movies have the total package - great writing, direction, and acting. They're not just great sci-fi, they're great movies, period.

Interesting We had to get all the way to the 4th page before the matrix was listed.

How about

For Classic Sci-fi Classics
Barbarella
Soylent Green
The Blob
The Fly

For TV/movies

Battlestar Galactica
Star Trek II- the Wrath of Khan
The Robetech Series (Anime)

I, Robot was decent, nothing spectacular, but definitely worth watching.

I didn't think the Matrix was that great, it was a 7.5/10, and the sequels were horrible.

Time Cop, started out great but turned to shit real quick.

Bladerunner is a classic.

Just saw Hellboy. Was entertaining (sort of classifies as Sci-fi).

Star Trek, Undiscovered Country was my favourite.

The Matrix had Keanu Reeves in it. Blecch! That's maybe why it's not so well liked.
In no order:
Star Wars
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
Alien
Aliens
The Thing(Carpenter)
Bladerunner
Star Trek II-The Wrath of Khan
Futureworld & Westworld
The Terminator 1 & 2
Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Centre Ice
Journey to the Centre of the Earth (I'm an old James Mason fan).

Planet of the Apes (I was about 12 when the film was released and was in love with the babe that Charston Heston rode off with - so gorgeous and with big tits).

God, I thought it was just ME who lusted after her :D

My favourites have all been mentioned except for:

Dr. Who: Destiny of the the Daleks

It stars Tom Baker and was made in the late 70's...

Last time I was in the UK I picked up a talking toy Dalek...

In a league of their own:

Blade Runner
Brazil &
2001 (saw it in Sept.69 in a Cinerama theater with swiveling seats in Paris).

then:

Time Machine (1960 original)
Dr. Strangelove
Clockwork Orange (not really sci-fi)
Andromeda Strain
Star Wars
Dark City
Total Recall
Alien
Fifth Element
12 Monkeys

Contact and GATTACA,

and as for the Matrix, like with the Star Wars trilogy but worse, the incomprehensible third installment devalues the whole.
