The guy on TV just said that back in the old days a BB counted as a hit. That explains why the batting averages were so high. He mentioned a Tip O'Neil batted .407(?).

All you naysayers... I think that the Jays are going to play solid baseball this year. I don't think they will make the playoffs, but I do think this will be a year they can build on for next year. If Romero keeps progressing, and the two injured pitchers come back strong, we will be alright.hammertm said:

Fair enough. He is off to a pretty hot start, and I also doubt that he will be able to keep it up. However, as long as he does not cool down too much, and keeps playing solid defensively, that is all you can ask.hammertm said:

Alan Ashby said something a year ago at this time before Hill got injured, that caused me to raise a Spockian eyebrow because it was a thought I'd never entertained before.
Anyway he said Aaron Hill had the potential to one day lead the American League in hitting and the way he's making contact with the ball this year he could be right.
