Now I know where they got the bassline for Like Sugar by Chaka Khan, which I posted a couple months back. So damn funky

RIP Anita Pointer. That leaves Ruth as the only surviving member from the 70's lineup.

A sweet cover of the Todd Rundgren classic 'Hello It's Me'. The singer here is Amel Larrieux as a member of Groove Theory.

From her solo album Infinite Possibilities, released in 1999. I slept on this one. What a nice blend of soul and jazz.

I've been listening through Robin Thicke's discography recently. Have to admit I've slept on this dude's music. Great blue eyed soul artist, the son of beloved Canadian actor Alan Thicke. Of course many will recognize Robin as the singer of the song Blurred Lines, which garnered some controversy for unauthorized sample usage and a steamy video featuring topless models. But the depth of his discog is so much more. Here's a few of my favorites from him:

Magic

Get Her Back

Got 2 Be Down feat. Faith Evans

All Tied Up

Lost Without You

I've been watching the Netflix MCU series, or The Defenders Saga as they call it on Disney+, and I was really impressed with Jidena's performance at the beginning of S1 E5 of Luke Cage.

A throwback to the early 2000's. Nivea was a cutie. Sadly she's aged quite poorly. Jagged Edge with the additional vocals. Bryan Michael Cox with the production.

As far as contemporary rappers go I think this dude is one of the more appealing ones.

Emily Ratajkowski has gone on record and said that she now regrets being in the video for 'Blurred Lines'.

Saw a video on YT about Michael Henderson's bass playing and it led me to this tune. He sung and played bass here. Norman Connors is the drummer.

There are some great jazz/soul albums recorded over the years but I think this one is tops. Places and Spaces by Donald Byrd (1975). I can't get enough of it. Pure bliss.

I have a greatest hits CD of Smokey Robinson & the Miracles. This song mysteriously doesn't appear on it despite it being a #1 hit for them. Its a stone cold classic

Going in Circles by the Friends of Distinction (1969)

Covered by Gap Band (1985)

Covered by Luther Vandross (1994)

Original still knocks the best for me.

The Emancipation of Mimi is the 10th studio album released by Mariah Carey, in 2005. Listening through it recently I believe it might be her best album even though Butterfly (1997) is still my favorite.
The Emancipation of Mimi spawned the hit songs - Shake It Off(#2), We Belong Together (#1)), Don't Forget About Us (#1), It's Like That feat. Jermaine Dupri (#16).
15 songs deep with little to no filler. This is one of my favorite tracks on the album. I don't believe it charted.

Normally I don't like people messing with classic favorites of mine but this remix of Michael Jackson's 'Rock With You' came through my YouTube feed and it sorta blew me away. Not sure who Rob 2018 is but kudos to you
