Yup - MONEYBALL - graphs and charts from guys who probably never played the game and probably can’t even skate.

I would have like Bossy on a line with THE TIGER - boy he would have had way more room to operate!Again, who would you rather have, Bossy or Tiger Williams?
Bossy wasn’t on the penalty kill because he was always on the power play...for those Islander teams Butch Goring was on the penalty kill, he’d be a better candidate than either Gainey or Guy Carbonneau for HOF, compare their careers, why isn’t Butch Goring in the HOF?
They did play on a line in the 1981 All Star GameI would have like Bossy on a line with THE TIGER - boy he would have had way more room to operate!
Oh, I Love Jumbo Joe - one of the best passers to ever play the game. Bruins kinda ruined him with too much pressure too soon. He has done well at SJ - but if he had been drafted say at the time to Detroit - you would have seen JUMBO JOE 2.0.I think Simmonds will be okay for a year to add some grit and bang some bodies hard in limited minutes every game. He came cheap and no one will be looking for him to put up big scoring numbers, or play regular or power play minutes on the top two lines. He's a hard nosed third line player who can cause some damage and make opponents get rid of the puck fast when he's on the ice. Might be interesting to see him and Spezza pair up, although I'd rather see Simmonds and Jumbo Joe from SJ on a third or even fourth line combo. He can also deliver effective payback on teams taking advantage of AM and MM without taking a penalty at the same time. Seems like a low risk pick up that could deliver lots of upside.
Bahaaaa - never saw that one - what the heck was Tiger doing on a “pick up game” All Star skate! They did play on a line in the 1981 All Star Game
Check it out, Tiger was a 30 goal scorer for Vancouver back then.Bahaaaa - never saw that one - what the heck was Tiger doing on a “pick up game” All Star skate!
Back to your point, Bossy had Trottier as a centre, Gillies for awhile on the left side...Islanders had a tough teamI would have like Bossy on a line with THE TIGER - boy he would have had way more room to operate!
Ya know in my advanced age - I forgot about his time with Vancouver - that was during the REALLY REALLY ugly jersey days if I remember correctly. Tiger could play - just like Shack could play. They got put into a roll. One of my most fav players ever Wendle Clark - could punch your lights out or turn you inside out and score - that Man - HEART, HEART , HEART.Check it out, Tiger was a 30 goal scorer for Vancouver back then.
No Tiger was on Vancouver during those jersey days...made it to the Cup final in 1981, Richard Brodeur, Harold Snepts...it was the playoff that Roger Neilson put the towel on a stick with several other players like a 'white flag'.Ya know in my advanced age - I forgot about his time with Vancouver - that was during the REALLY REALLY ugly jersey days if I remember correctly. Which Russian was that?Tell that to the 1st line players that they continually shut down year after year..........
In international play the Russian revered Gainey..
It's hard to see how there could more than few physical players being more effective than Clark Gillies was.I would have like Bossy on a line with THE TIGER - boy he would have had way more room to operate!
Just looked it up. He was on the 1981 losing team...Goring was on a Canada Cup team...Clark Gillies is another example of a iffy HOFer...
Victor Tikhonov.....Which Russian was that?
Bobby Clarke may have been more effective than Gainey due to his "stickhandling" abilities.
Let's not talk about Wendel Clarke, his career was cut short by being the sacrificial lamb for some very shitty Leafs teams. Have people forgotten the disastrous fights he had with Kordic and Probert? Does anyone remember the Kordic fight, Clark hit him at least half a dozen times - Kordic did not move. Kordic hit him once and the fight was over. Clark played with a concussion after that. And lets remember Probert was an animal when he drank, Clark fought him because Dave Semenko didn't want to. Clark went over a year with a back injury after that. One of my most fav players ever Wendle Clark - could punch your lights out or turn you inside out and score - that Man - HEART, HEART , HEART.
Oh I hear ya - I remember Clark left it all out there against LA - practically killed himself (scored two that game if I remember correctly) - then Gretzky cuts Killer and gets away with it because the NHL could not afford a Montreal Toronto final. And Yes I still believe that to today 100%. THE FIX WAS IN!Let's not talk about Wendel Clarke, his career was cut short by being the sacrificial lamb for some very shitty Leafs teams. Breaking News: Wayne Simmonds takes less money from the Leafs to come home. Doesn't look good on Nylander and Marner does it.

Victor Ankleoff (according to Clarkie!).Victor Tikhonov.....
Patrick Roy was not going to be denied that year...........So it wouldn't of mattered.Oh I hear ya - I remember Clark left it all out there against LA - practically killed himself (scored two that game if I remember correctly) - then Gretzky cuts Killer and gets away with it because the NHL could not afford a Montreal Toronto final. I remember seeing Clark come back to the bench and look at Burns - Burns looks at Clark - I could see without words - Burns was saying man your a warrior and you left everything out there.
Heart Breaker for me![]()
Oh please - Clark and Killer would have lit him up! Ha ha ha Yes that psycho was quite a goalie - have to admit.Patrick Roy was not going to be denied that year...........So it wouldn't of mattered.
