A lot has happened since the Leafs were last in a Stanley Cup final.

A few years later we landed a man on the moon.
The Monkees and The Beatles broke up. Microwave ovens were invented.
Canadians discovered the wonders of indoor plumbing.

According to TSN and The Athletic fan-boy analysts the Leafs are Stanley cup contenders for the 4th consecutive year this season, so we’ve had a good run. No other team has that kind of dynasty going. So enjoy it while we’re still hot.

Coincidentally, the last final that they were in was the last time that they won it all. Who knew?

Actually, once they've reached the finals they've done well. They won the last 4 that they were in and have won 10 out of the last 12 they were in. Unfortunately, those were quite some time ago.

I can name at least 10 teams I would take to win over the Leafs (in no particular order)
Florida
Carolina
Vegas
Colorado
Tampa Bay
Minnesota
St. Louis
Washington
Winnipeg

I think Caufield is the betting favorite. He's in a position to succeed no question. Since I hate the Habs with every core of my being I hope that he doesn't.

Sidney Crosby musta' kissed Aaron Rodgers on the mouth...now they're both out with COVID. Crosby's played one game so far, and sucked hard in his debut. PENS can't get a break.

Similarly, it was remarkable to me that the Vegas Golden Knights were even able to field a team against the Leafs last night:

Between injuries and Covid protocols Vegas was missing 11 starters. They had career 4th liners playing on their top line, and because they were visitors they couldn’t even try to match their AHL players against the Leafs lower lines to compensate.

It was kinda brutal but they’ll have to tough it out for a while yet.

Jack Eichel traded from BUF to VGK (Sorry Calgary Flames fans!)

Will undergo cervical disc replacement surgery this week, out for about 3months.

Anyone think he'll ever be the franchise player many thought he had the potential to be?
