Excellent decision made by the ref during the italy vs australia match. Australia must have cried like babies after.

A pk should not have been awarded.

According to the rules a pk is awarded when an infraction that would have resulted in a free kick outside the area happens inside the area. The only infringement the Australian player could possibly have been accused of committing, was coming in contact with the Italian after trying to get to the ball. But that's not what happened. The attempted tackle was not what stopped the Italian. What stopped him was his own act of running into the fallen Aussie. A terrible decision, especially given that there were about 10 seconds left on the clock.

Whatever.

Since you seem a bit slow on this along with the 'betting fool' here is the call from the rule book that applies to the play! That call could've been made at any point in the game, too bad for the Aussies it happened when it did!

""Impeding the Progress of an Opponent". Generally, a player cannot use his body to impede another players movements, even if it is not deliberate"

Try to twist it any way you want. The call was made, deal with it. If it was the other way around you would be saying it was a great call, that's the truth of it!

VIVA ITALIA! ;)

you gotta feel for Ghana, that 2nd goal was offside...it's a very appealing game to watch because they actually go at Brazil!
Yeah, it was offside TWICE!! The linereferee forgot to bring his seeing eye dog.

Adriano's offside was so close that it falls into the "give the attacker the benefit of the doubt" category.

Irrelevant anyway. Brasil was hardly stretched, Ghana was never going to win this game. But kudos to Ghana, I love their spirit and style, even if they finish about as well as Portugal.

The goal was offside, but like you said Ghana was never going to win this game...by the way where has Ronaldinho been? He has been Invisible-inho.

Brazil has now won 11 straight World Cup games, can France or Spain take them down??

Ronaldinho is fine. He hasn't needed to do more than he has.

What many people don't get, and I'm not saying you're one of them, is that Ronaldinho's role on this Brazil team is completely different from the role he plays with Barcelona.

As long as Brazil keeps clicking as a team the way they have been, then criticisms of individual players are sort of beside the point any way. Brazil has shown an almost casual ability to raise their level of play at will. We're most probably looking at a Brazil/Germany final again.

France take this team down? Our Lady of Lourdes would have to don a les bleus jersey for that. Spain has a significant chance if they're having a good day and the ball bounces their way a couple of times. Brazil could be caught with their pants down like any other team, but it's going to take one superbly organized and fit team to do it. A certain teutonic team comes to mind. ;)

Brazil is going into trouble with a team like Germany. Brazil relies almost entirely on their ability to score lots of goals. The defence was invisible.

This Ghana side is the youngest in the cup and they have a very naive backline. Once that is sorted out they will be beating the so called big teams. They need to keep discipline and they will be one of the top 4 teams on planet earth.

They missed their very best player (Essien) today through...yess...you guessed it....suspension. That is what kills African teams with all their superior skill, talent and speed. Its the indiscipline.

They were dealt a serious blow today with that 2nd goal. That is what killed them off. Most world teams would never come back from that (as well as having your coach dismissed) much less the most inexperienced and youngest side in the world cup.

Yeah. Ok.
Do you know anything about football? Do you know this same Ghanaian team has beaten Brazil and Argentina coming through the under 17 and under 21 world level. They are young and still getting their experience.

Look, their coach played the wrong strategy today. You notice ALL goals (even the offside one) came from Ghana's naive defence trying to play the offside trap?? They need to stop trying to work that offside trap. It failed so many times today it was shocking.

Please tell me you watch some other footie other than the World Cup!

I dont know why Europeans like you think African football is so inferior. Africa have ALL the tools except the discipline and they get a plethora of Euro coaches to sort it out but most times it doesnt work because these players get frustrated when the refs come down harder on them than they do on the "brand name" teams. This has been discussed at length. The officials sticking it to African teams has been going on for ages.

Brazil is my side since I was 2. I am happy they are through.

As for that junk side you support Portugal I hope they dont get lucky against England. This is the first time Portugirl has escaped the 1st round since 1966 when they were a one man team thanks to the great African from Mozambique...Mr E-u-s-e-b-i-o aka the 'European Pele' as he was dubbed despite being an African. lol. You will be without Brazilian born Deco. Your best player as it so happens. Good luck

You sound like you would be a Ron Atkinson supporter for what he said about former French centreback (Ghanaian born) Marcel Desailly lol
