Mike Carney to replace Trudeau as Canada’s new PM

Prior to Trump taking office and engaging in a trade war with Canada, a Conservative majority Government was anticipated.

I think Trump's BS is starting to tarnish the Federal Conservative brand in Canada; Pierre Poilievre is losing momentum, and it's shifting back to the Federal Liberals. He knows it too.

I would not be surprised if PM Carney goes to the Governor General and calls an election in the Spring; the Liberals might just eke out a fourth term after all. If they do, and it's a majority, PP will be dropped as Party Leader soon after.
I don't think we can assume PM Carney at this time.
I still expect the Cons to win.
But this went from an absolute landslide curb-stomping to a competitive race and things look very different than they did in December.

I think it's funny people are comparing Poilievre to Trump but can't explain why?

Can you name 3 policies that Poilievre has proposed that would be similar to Trump's?

Of course, I'll except an answer that "you are just parroting leftwing media talking points" if you're stuck.
It's not about proposed policies.
It's about the "populist" rhetoric.

policy impacts peoples lives
rhetoric is not a valid reason to support / reject a candidate
Of course rhetoric is a valid reason to support / reject a candidate.
People don't vote based on rational analysis of policy. (Even if I think the world would be a better place if more people did.)

The rhetoric a candidate chooses does tell you something about a candidate.
It also works to wrap various policies in a larger vision of what values and approaches will guide their policies going forward.
People are going to take that into consideration when assessing a candidate.
Pollievre, seeing how well a populist rhetoric of grievance was working for Trump and the GOP, chose to style himself in their image.
The Conservatives already had a base that was responding strongly to that and there was good reason to believe many other Canadians would as well.

Unfortunately, this means Trump's failures are bouncing back on Pollievre because he chose to invoke that model of leadership.

Carny is great he knows his math to be able to keep taxes lower and budget he has a long list of education. Pierre has been living on tax payers money 20 years with only one job prior being a paper boy. Truth is Pierre is not equipped to run a Country. His chronic whining like his followers never has solutions. Jusst a negative man.

I am explaining why the fact Pollievre is compared to Trump and how it is affecting his electoral chances.
Your personal obsessions are irrelevant here.

I'm not trying to link Pollievre to Trump.
He is linked to Trump for much of the public, despite the small overlap in specific policy proposals.
I haven't said a thing about what policies I do or do not support.
I haven't even said whether I think Carney is a good choice.

Imagine being so daft as to think that Pierre Poilievre has any connection to Trump or the MAGA movement...

Carney is not a battle tested politician, lets see how he handles it when he steps into heavy traffic.

I want to see how he deals with the carbon tax hike on April 1...Will he scrap it?..If he does he's probably going to win.

Does he have the cojones?
If he scraps it, the Liberals should reimburse every Canadian that has had to pay more for everything for the past decade...and voters shouldn't give them a pass just because they go against their own ideology now when threatened with losing the election after forcing it upon everyone.

There are none.
I am not comparing Pierre to Trump at all.
There is no danger of Canada backsliding into the state of America's democracy under Pierre.
As I said I will vote ideologically to do my part in voting against right wing politics (whatever that means in Canada) as the world is trending in a dangerous far right direction.
You said "due to the shit show down south" you are no longer going to vote for him.

What does Poilievre have to do with that exactly?

Carney warned Britain not to leave the EU. And will you repay your carbon tax rebate?
He failed to prevent it.

You think the amount of the rebates comes anywhere close to how much more the carbon tax has forced us to pay? Now I see why it fooled so many people after statements like that.
