Although I am not generally a fan of Doug Ford, he has the right idea. I bet he has done business with Americans and knows you have to show strength.

Well I do like him geopolitically because he is not a war monger, but I guess he is a trade war monger and I think there needs to be unified retaliation with against the USA. We need to identify with the EU and China, which US industries we can take down with join action and replace with our own.
I like DOFOs idea of creating a strategic nickel reserve and directing all the Ontario nickel production into storage while US factories close down. When Trump backs down, they can buy that nickel back from us + cost of storage until the reserve is emptied. We can do the same with Aluminum. Iron Ore we can put a 25% tariff on top of the US tariff. Or offer to sell it to India and China at a discount rather then sell it to the USA.

The US is buying about 100 billion per year of auto parts from Mexico and Canada. Now, 25 billion would end up for the government (in Trump's pocket, but we do not know for sure that part yet; it should come soon).
I say 'would' because the US will buy less... Because of the tariff, but also because they will produce less. Think about it. The tariffs open up the US market to Asian car makers (japan, Korea) and European ones (until a tariff is maybe applied to them as well).

Apart from nickel, all cobalt and lithium shipments to the USA should stop. Let's see how long Tesla lasts without them. Canada has large reserves of these metals which are almost untapped. Cobalt is a bi-product of nickel mining.

Let's stop them buying Potash! US agriculture will suffer as they will have to wait and pay much more.
One thing many of you are not taking into consideration is that despite these tariffs impacting both sides, that's not the important part.
The important part is how long each side can withstand the trade war.
