Actually, it's quite simple. Sometimes local things affect us and sometimes things farther away affect us.

What doesn't make sense is how you cannot grasp such a simple concept. Who did you vote for?

I understand it. I don’t think you do. It’s also not sometimes, 90 percent of the time, it’s America. You are too concerned about America and what he’s doing domestically. Sometimes it’s not even policies. It’s the man himself you can’t enough of. Most of the time you have no idea wha you’re talking about. It’s embarrassing to read at times.

Heed the words of your fellow countryman who started this thread.

Clearly you don't understand it, and neither does OP.

Are you trying to tell us that what happens in the US does not affect Canadians? Obviously the answer is, yes they do. As such, it is totally valid for us to be concerned about trump's words and actions. If we didn't, it would be like burying our heads in the sand, Fortunately the cult of tDSers, those with trump Devotee Syndrome, have left us no room to do so.

Yes US policies will impact. But our internal politics, policies would impact more on us. Strangely we have more threads on US and Palestine, than our own issues.

To me, it does not take a geopolitical expert to know that what happens in the US has an effect on all Canadians. It's as rudimentary a fact as one can find in international politics. I don't have to follow Canadian politics to know this and it would hold regardless of which leader is the PM.

The fact that you think that this does somehow make me an expert on Canadian politics, is an indication that me stating that the principle of US policies affecting Canada is a revelation to you. You never knew that before and you are impressed. LOL ;)

I know that you're on the prowl for me, but you need to pick your spots better.

I agree with all of that.

TBH, the reason that I only very very casually follow what's going on Canada is because it's boring as hell. It's Mickey Mouse compared to what goes on in the US and other global/regional areas. Canadians are too civilized. Swiss politics seems like it would be boring as well. Maybe others feel the same way I do. I don't really know.

It is not lopsided.
A jewellery store robbery isn't something to get your knickers in a twist about.
It happens and police will handle it.
Despite what you may hear on the news, crime is not such a big issue in Toronto.
Its many times safer than the US.
But America's descent into fascism, threatening Canada and tariffs can actually impact a Canadian more than a robbery at a local store.

This section is called Politics, Religion, and International Affairs. Canada shares an International border with America. So any news coming out of America would fall under those categories. Members here usually post local news (like your robbery story) and general interest stories in the Lounge.

There are plenty of threads on Canadian politics, but given the current situation with the US, it seems fitting to discuss these things in, you know, a section called Politics, Religion, and International Affairs.

Crime has exploded in Canada coincidentally around the same time as our borders were opened up to allow the 3rd world to pour into our country.
We need a Canadian Trump.

May be that's the reason , our politicians take the entire country on a ride.
Nobody wanted 2021 elections but we had it.
Nobody wants Ontario elections now but we are having it.
Everyone I know, want a federal election, and other things to be fixed , but it is not happening.

You might have missed the context.
This is not about jwellery store robbery. It is what our country has become.
Crime, drugs and politicians playing with us.
Everyone I know, don't want an Ontario election, but we are having it.
Nobody wanted 2021 federal elections mid covid , when the same government was asking to stay at home , but we had it.
Everyone wants our parliament back and a stable government but nops , not happening

The point is we need to have more concerns on what is happening in our country.

I think you show concern based on the magnitude of the issue.
Although you could find problems with crime and politics in Canada, it is nothing compared to the magnitude of the issues down south.
