The Trump Administration's stated goal is to reorganize the global trade order. The U.S. can't be the consumer of last resort for the global economy at this magnitude indefinitely. I'm not defending Trump and his antics per se. I'm just trying to look at the bigger picture on global trade. They have been my personal views long before Trump.

Trump will be massively criticized every step of the way on trade. If he stands up to China's unbalanced trade, he will still be criticized.

You can explain the lack of foreign investment in Canadian telecom and banking anyway you want. Perhaps, it's just a market overlooked by larger American, European and Japanese telecoms and banks. If America's long term goal is to level its balance of trade with the rest of the world, shouldn't that be a carefully thought through plan that is put into effect by Congress?

And you know why your something is now made in VN and not China??...... Because the importer switched source countries to avoid tariffs. Trump tariffs VN and suddenly the same item will come from Indonesia, or Malawi, or Ecuador.
