So you are saying Trump is continuing Canada's unfair Trade advantage?

Canada isn't a big target but he makes the same 25% Tariff threat to us?

He didn't think we would get this prepared. That's just the truth. He folded.
Okay, if that's what you need.

Is that why the Canadian leadership were scrambling last minute? Mexico leadership were all of a sudden interested in securing the borders? Trump is a troll and he lights everyone's ass on fire and get them working...
We've been telling them for almost a month that if they put Tariffs on us, we will do the same to them.

They didn't put tariffs on us. Trump folds.

No wonder Justing agreed 10k personnel and 1.3B budget for the border? He finally agreed with Daddy Trump...
That border thing with Canada was a bluff all along. Adding 1.3 billion to block an extra 5k people from going across one way or the other is a pure loss of money.

This negotiation with Canada and Trump is complete bull shit. Trump wants to prove who's the boss. Like any fragile egomaniac does.

The deficit the US is having on import/export with Canada is beneficial for the US and a win/win situation with Canada. They end up making more money than exploiting their resources.

People (like idiot Trump) think in business there is always a winner and a loser. That's so fucking wrong. In a good business, all your transactions that are win/win will make you succeed. And all those that are winners/losers will give you headaches and trouble.

When a country acts, the other will react.
Negotiations, agreements and concessions are all part of diplomacy.
Trump wanted to send a message to his base that he is "securing the border".
The truth is there is nothing to secure on the Canadian side.
2lbs of Fentanyl in 2024.
So Canada agreed to help with the optics by hiring a "Fentanyl Czar" and "beefing up border security".
The truth is that the CBSA already intercepts and removes both illegal immigrants and drugs at the border which is why we have such low numbers.
So there is nothing much Canada has to realistically do than to throw a little money and personnel at it and do what they have already been doing.
Trump initiated tariffs because he complained about trade deficits (that does exist) and problems at the border that did not exist.
Within 48 hours he however backed down to accept the plan Canada has been talking about for about 3 months?
So he showed his hand too early and folded.
This isn't winning anything.
Winning would have meant adoption of Trump style immigration policies, mass deportations and approvals for US businesses to freely operate in Canada. (this is based on his complaints against Canada).
That didn't happen.

Are Bell, Rogers and Telus allowed to operate in the US?
Last I checked it was a ATT, T-Mobile, Verizon monopoly.
T-Mobile is a global brand started by Deutsche Telecom. DT currently has a majority stake in T-Mobile.

When you live in the U.S. all your life, you know stuff.

I dont know how that takes away from what I said.
T-Mobile, ATT and Verizon are a monopoly in the US just like Rogers, Bell and Telus are in Canada.

He wanted to believe he could annex Canada. Today, he said it would be the right thing to do, but his side doesn't have the fortitude to follow through and deal with the pain needed. This is why, as of this morning, he was open to negotiations. He was read the riot act today by companies and donors in a panic, and there will not be any future tariffs coming, is my guess. I just hope Canadians continue to look elsewhere and only try to buy Canadian.
If you look at how the stock market tanked yesterday morning, you understand why Trump folded like a cheap suit. For those who think he didn't....what did he actually get? The $1.3B was announced last year (well, December). The only new thing was a new fentanyl drug czar. Trump didn't get to annex us. He didn't get any concessions on allowing US banks up here, or increase the amount of American agriculture. So....let's call a spade a spade. Trump blinked. He knew the disastrous effect the tariffs would have on the US economy, and he made the sensible decision to back down. Of course @mitchell76 and his ilk need to pretend that Trump won. Hell, we should all pretend he did. That would probably stop future bullshit....

But, I'll say this: Trudeau was great. He should still GTFO Ottawa ASAP, but he handled theses negotiations expertly. He was actually a unifier for the country.

If this is your position then Donald Trump folded.

We still have the the same trade agreement and Canada's initial offer about border security hasn't changed.

I'm laughing at all of you. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
They implemented the border agreement which they were hoping trump would not enforce, he did. Trudeau FAFO. You all think trump caved because of our tariff threat, 75% of our exports go to usa while 13% of theirs come here. They would have shrugged this off while we were panicking for months. 🤣🤣😂😂

The new intelligence directive backed by a 200 million dollar pledge wasn't mentioned. Either was the number of 10k frontline personal.

Ummmm....how many front line border people do you think we have? Nearly 17,000. See, this gives you apologists wiggle room to pretend that Trump was actually successful. Well played, Trudeau, well played....

They import 13% of their products to canada, they would have treated it like a speed bump.

So what about all this talk about USA subsidizing Canada for 200 billions a year which is very unfair to USA?
it’s all fair and good now? 😂😂😂😂 that $200 billion is not an issue anymore? 😂😂😂😂
