Kevin O'Leary wants to be Fred Garvin. If he gives Trump maximum pleasure he may wait a day before imposing tariffs.

USMCA renewal is in July 2026, a year and a half away. Trump said that he said he would do a 25% tariff on Canada via executive order from "day one"
So we agree that Trump honours his contracts and word as much as Vladimir Vladimirich! And has no regard for the credibility of treaties each country enters into.

This^^^

Softwood lumber has been a contentious issue with the Americans for years and came to a boiling point under Trumps previous administration.
don't not expect Softwood lumber issue to get any better for Canada in trumps new administration

But not on day 1 which is his promise which he will 100% do, much like how he said he would end the war on the first day because that is completely possible [he sarcastically said]

Maybe Trump Norris actually does think he is Chuck Norris.

Maybe that's why he doesn't want immigrants

Aata majhi satakli!

Well to be fair, Trump lost his mind ages ago.

Great video! Never met Russel Peters' father but nice to see him in action. Especially the belt scene starting at around 4:50 (indexed to start there in the below linked video!

SOMEBODY got hurt REAL bad! :ROFLMAO:

Best scene in the cop universe series is when they are trying to make a terrorist talk. They have IIRC his wife and mother in another room kept quit and they make noises as if they are beating them [faked] and a lady cop making the screaming noises except she starts moaning like it's turning her on till they correct her.

So Trump is demanding that Mexico and Canada need to secure his borders. Does this make sense to anyone that isn't a complete fucking idiot ? Is Canada and Mexico supoose to set up borders on US soil to stop drugs and people ? Is taxing Americans 25% on all goods from Mexico and Canada going to help with inflation and bring down the costs of goods to Americans? This guy is beyond fucking retarded

I'm pretty sure the Americans and Donald in particular, could care less about this issue. The demand is by gangs on the Canadian side and they just know where they can easily get their hands on guns and it's also a profitable endeavour.
I'm glad that they are going to bring the issue of not only drugs, but also illegal arms, crossing the border from The USA into Canada:

On "Day One", as he's ranting about??
he will view the tariffs as a tool used to get the borders secure , a national security crisis
he has an option to open the USCMA in 2026 for renegotiated., which he will view as a separate matter

Your boy Justin has 2 months to clean up some of the mess he has made of our borders

Do you think he is up to it.?

Thanks for contributing to the discussion, Orry.

I was wondering where the righties had disappeared to, as soon as people started to talk real economics and policy. And here you are with more dancey videos. Pretty damn cool, if you ask me!

It's always been a contentious issue, even before Trumps first time in office.
two wrongs here which do not add up to a right
Canada low stumpage pricing for logging on crown land appears as a subside from the perspective of American forestry companies who operate primarily on private land.
American forestry companies continuously drop off bags of lobby money in Washington DC to ensure softwood lumber tariffs are imposed

the first is contentious as an outsider could see merit in either sides position
the second ( lobby money) is despicable

We all know that money talks, especially in the US, where lobbying is big business and is very profitable for both parties involved.

This isn't a "new" issue. It's been raised with the Federal liberals before. Our borders are porous and always have been. The flow of illegal guns, for gangs, is a very profitable business.
i do not agree with
Our borders are porous and always have been.
we never had a ''Roxhan Road '' free for all environment before Trudeau took office
Steven Harper / Pierre P would not have allowed that to fester for years

Justin Trudeaus open doors immigration policy and messaging was an open invitation to access the back door to the USA.
including an invitation to some very evil people

Far more terrorist threats have entered into the US via Canada than via Mexico
and starting in the new year we will getting a steady stream of these ''terrorist threats'' dumped back onto our side of the border.
They will cry "refugee" to get the hotel , food and spending allowance at the tax payers expense
Oh well, secondary terrorist attack targets in Canada will have to do

Justin Trudeau's stupidity is going to haunt Canada for a very long time

I totally agree! JT has done some real damage, with regards to our borders and the liberal immigration policy. One can look back in recent times, when Trump made a threat to asylum seekers in the US, who came poring over our borders and the RCMP just helped take them in, when we should have just loaded a plane up and flew them back with a one way ticket. Our policies have always been an issue with the Americans, as it relates to their security, especially since 9/11.

We've had secret Chinese police stations operating here. Foreign interference in elections, and with elected officials, which have no doubt helped make policy, that has been of benefit to them. We are a joke in the intelligence and defense world and it shows with these things.

It's damned near impossible for a new government to clean up a previous one's mess, when it comes to things like this. We have seen more gang activity than we ever have, and one isn't a racist, when one points out their ethnic origin. Like anything, it's data, which is relevant. Whatever happened to bringing in the right people? Instead the floodgates have been opened and foreign criminal enterprises operate here. Just because you've let the right people in, doesn't mean that their extended families should be allowed in too, especially when they are pat of a criminal element.

We are seeing a shift in our society, where the Canada we grew up in has fundamentally changed. Our liberal government has seen to this, with their policies on immigration and such.

While we have always been on the radar for terrorists, I do believe that the time is coming, when this issue finally rears its ugly head. Look no further than last summer, when the father and son were arrested in Scarborough. They're here now, and it's only a matter of time.

Is Trump wrong for his stance and how he and many Americans view Canada? I don't think so. So he'll do what he can, with speaking out about our policies and how they affect the American's sense of security and use tariffs to reinforce what he's saying.

My guess is the board of John Deere is re-evaluating its current CEO's strategy.
Can he bully all of Corporate America ,? No he can not
That said a lot of corporate America supported him vs Harris and they knew tariffs were on the table with him
the stock market certainly prefers Trump so far and it is a good measure of corporate sentiment ..... long term

Trumps goals are pretty lofty and there are a lot of constraints (some of your points are valid ) and powerful interests who oppose hm.
That said there will be changes, deregulation of energy and there will be reshoring
how much?
time will tell

The John Deere situation is far more complicated than metal and what colour the hands are assembling it. John Deere is under intense pressure and scrutiny over its draconian service polices based on the premise that John Deere OWNS the software that runs the equipment and farmers are outright prohibited to do any repairs on their equipment. Not just how it might affect warranty... John Deere sues farmers for infringing on their intellectual property if you access their code.

The car makers used to say your entire car warranty was invalidated if you didn't get your oil changed at the dealership using manufacturers branded oil and filter. So if your transmission failed and you changed your own oil or even had an independent licensed mechanic change it with better oil. Tough shit.

In response in 1975 the US passed the Magnussen-Moss Warranty Act.

There are many advocates lobbying for federal "Right to Repair" laws now to address John Deere and Apple's designs that physically prevent you from replacing a battery or other parts.

And there is soooooo much more to their consideration of moving than you read. Again, these things aren't as simple as the populist politicians like Trump make it out to be.

As for the stock market "preferring Trump".

Let me share something with everyone.

Stock BROKERS and banks make commission on the trades. Whether the price goes up or down... the broker makes his commission. So the brokers and banks are incentivized to encourage trading.

Did we have MORE sunshine this year? YES! So the broker will say to buy solar panel company shares as they are set to rise as more demand is anticipated. Or they will say that since there is more sunshine, solar panel companies will have less demand as the existing panels are producing more and meeting the energy demands.

The stock market is nothing more than a big bookie. If you win or lose.. the house makes it's money on the action.

The classic pump and dump fraudsters are essentially no different than the stock market and money markets except they are not licensed and don't wear as nice suits or get on TV.

One thing that I really hope Trump will do is reverse Biden's Keystone (and other pipeline) order so that it can be built. As much as I HATE the wasteful and pollution of the tarsands oil, someone is going to sell oil so it might as well be Canada.

I was aware of John Deeres practices

Trump will view them as an attack on US Farmers

Brokers do not control the upwards or downwards trajectory of the stock market
They facilitate trades and can make a lot of coin doing so

Institutional investors are far more influential in determining the upwards or downwards trajectory of the stock market and their views are based on their economic outlook,
An economic outlook ,which appears to be improved by Trumps election victory over Kackling Kamila

The classic pump and dump fraudsters are essentially no different than the stock market and money markets except they are not licensed and don't wear as nice suits or get on TV.
???
stock market IPOs are a source of capital for growth ideas , lots of risks in investing in new business ideas, but also critical for innovation and progress

money markets are a source of short term liquidity for corporation's and provincial / municipal governments
money markets have minimal risk premium vs the 'risk-free rate of federal government bonds
there has not been an investment grade default in commercial paper for decades in Canada (likely far longer)

lumping the pump and dump fraudster, stock market and money markets together displays a biased lack of understanding of how the capital markets lubricate the wheels of free enterprise and our economy in general
this lumping also displays a biased lack of understanding of the risk/ reward trade off all investors should undertake before investing dollar one

re: pump and dump fraudsters
money flows attracts unscrupulous people - best advice is buyer beware and do your homework before investing

did you get burnt by a high risk investment presented to you by a slick talking promoter?

[One thing that I really hope Trump will do is reverse Biden's Keystone (and other pipeline) order so that it can be built.
its not just Keystone,
Bidens administration was anti fossil fuels and pro green energy unicorns
The latter just does not work. period.
Biden knew this,.

As much as I HATE the wasteful and pollution of the tarsands oil, someone is going to sell oil so it might as well be Canada.
That is a self -contradictory statement
how does one waste pollution ?

if you deem it wasteful it must have positive value
pollution generally has only negative value

the deposit is higher viscosity hydrocarbons mixed with sand
conventional oil wells are lower viscosity oil mixed with other materials such as water, natural gas and nasty sulphur compounds

the use of the term 'tarsands' is biased and uninformed

environmentalism is a very positive ideal and a very positive practise when applied intelligently
however the current generation of environuts have shown themselves to be uncompromising , destructive and dangerous

"Just stop oil" are irresponsible lunatics
steven Guilbeault is a fanatic who would impoverish Canada and not give it a second thought

they will have set back legitimate positive environmental actions by decades
