Anti-price-gouging laws.
Which are already common. (30-40 states have them, I can't remember the total number.)

I didn't see any specific detail released other than talking about it in the speech, so maybe I've missed some additional material, but I've been assuming it would be similar to Warren's bill on Federal price-gouging prevention.
The inflation deflection is not a great look for her. Just a lot of pandering and posturing. I don't think it really helps her.

Americans know if the govt. prints excessive amounts of money prices go up. Businesses see more demand in nominal dollars. It was a systemic process across the world. The price increases go all through the supply chain to the basic commodity prices. More dollars chasing the same amount of goods.

There might be price-gouging laws on the books, but they are likely never enforced because they rarely make sense.

I realize you cling to that delusion, but it doesn't make it true.
Are we pushing this idea that the media is conservative again? It doesn't make sense when journalists' and their managers' campaign donations are tracked. Seems like a fair metric to most of us.

Perhaps the media in general doesn't support Bernie Sanders' or a pure progressive platform. However, the media does not support Republicans. They almost have to be shamed into covering topics and issues that favor the Republicans. As in that issue ain't going away, so maybe we need to give that story airtime or print.

Even last night's convention media interviews were more friendly and convivial than Milwaukee. I expect journalists in attendance to have big smiles on their faces all week while they lob softballs at Democratic leaders.

The GOP managed not [convention bump] to this year, which is quite impressive.
There was a big bump in the preceding two plus weeks leading to the Republican convention. Kamala has had a great couple weeks leading up to the Democratic convention. We will see if she can make further progress in polls. Clearly unless someone doesn't something really stupid, Trump and Harris are fighting over a shrinking middle. (Both candidates in my opinion have a propensity to do stupid things. I will say Trump has a higher propensity, but he is also the known commodity in the race.)

No it isn't.
You should always choose the lesser evil in everything you do if you can.
That's how you get less evil in the world.

I really don't understand these people who announce they don't want to reduce evil.
It's fucking bizarre.
Genocide is as evil as humans get.
Just saying.

The US media is very right wing.
Look at the owners.
Compare US press to international press.
Check how words like 'socialism' are used in the US vs the rest of the world.

NEW: President Biden has arguably one of his worst speeches to date, lies and slurs his way through the entire speech. Recap: 1. Biden says women are without electrical [power?] 2. Biden says border crossings are down under his administration compared to Trump (??) 3. Biden repeats the "fine people" hoax. 4. Biden repeated the "suckers and losers" hoax. 5. Biden screams at the crowd. 6. Biden gets confused while talking about Medicare. 7. Biden says Democrats have to save democracy again (Biden was forcibly removed as the democratically nominated candidate) 8. Biden says there are a thousand trillion billionaires in America. 9. Biden shares the "bloodbath" hoax.

Valcazar is either intentionally propagating a lie, or he's never actually spoken with many, or perhaps any, journalists. It usually takes less than 10 minutes for the vast majority of them to tell you clearly that they favour left leaning policies and politicians.

It's a hopeless argument for him, because anyone who watches a wide spectrum of platforms believes their own eyes and ears over any convoluted counterargument.

I believe Valcazar spends a lot of time in an academic environment. There is strong empathy for Palestine in academia. American media generally supports Israel. There is also a very strong belief in government power to solve problems and advance social justice. The U.S. government hasn't thrown enough of its money and power to drive equity.

You can see in a simple discussion on price controls that are progressive TERB friends think it is a valid policy response to current inflation. American media in general is not enthusiastic.

Similarly, I have progressive friends that thought the Obama Presidency was a wasted opportunity. Obviously, most of American media gushed over him.

Per Wikipedia: Benjamin Aaron Shapiro (born January 15, 1984) is an American lawyer, columnist, and conservative political commentator. That seems like a fair description. I have no idea why anyone would consider Ben Shapiro a news journalist.

The header on the Daily Wire website states "Fight the Left Build the Future". It seems like they are truthfully advertising their purpose.
Because people are ignorant, especially on the right. They think the Daily Wire is a legit news source. And Shapiro frequently says "breaking news" about the latest right-wing outrage....just like a journalist.

I don't think you are objective. When I have the news on my TV, it's like "breaking news" at least once and sometimes more. Doesn't matter what network. It's all of them. We're all kind of jaded by the phrase "breaking news".

I forgot if we had this discussion before. It's best not to dig in on every idea you have about American politics and media when presented with contrary information.

FIGHT THE LEFT BUILD THE FUTURE is not news. Ben Shapiro is not news. They are telling you they are not "thee news".

By the way, I'm glad you can determine who is ignorant and who is not. It's a very admirable quality. We need more people with this ability to evaluate the broad population.

You are right, it is not news. It is opinion. But look at Shapiro's followers, who think he is a journalist. I'm sure there are some lefties who think the Daily Show is a news program....
