After reviewing the video again, dude was indeed backing up upon seeing the badges and a split second later was pushed to the ground. A lawsuit is feasible.

No one will get fired. They'll just be "demoted" for a bit and then reinstated as usual.
Remember, they're in a public sector union? There's no such thing as getting fired like in the real world.

No, that’s an association not a union. Unions , and only unions, are covered by rights and obligations of the Labour Relations Act. It’s illegal for the Toronto police to be unionized.

Maybe the word “Association“ will tip you off to the reality they are not a union?
