Blair and Barker were just talking about this trade. In all fairness Donaldson wasn’t worth much at this moment due to injury, and Merryweather with his 100 mph was showing some promise.. Too bad his fastball was as flat as a doormat and he got hammered all over the place. And Donaldson had that one more great year in Atlanta which definitely does sting a little bit.

I agree his value wasn't that high but the Indians had a pretty deep farm system at that time. The return should have been better. For example here are a few of their B/C grade prospects at that time
10. Nolan Jones 3B
11. Will Benson OF
12. Yandy Diaz 3B
13. Erik Gonzalez SS
14. Adam Plutko P
20. Shane Bieber P

Merryweather wasn't even top 30.

13-0 is just embarrassing. We are last place in the AL East by 5.5 games. How TF do these guys still have their jobs????

Anyone here play in a fantasy baseball league?
My big money team is sitting in 12th place out of 16 teams currently. But I've been decimated with injures. First off losing Gerrit Cole at the beginning of the year was a huge blow. Then during the year I've lost Kyle Tucker, Matt McLain, Josh Lowe, Merrill Kelly, Esteury Ruiz...all with significant long-term injuries. Couple that with disappointing seasons for Chris Bassitt and Spencer Torkelson(wtf).

The only guys that have been good for me are Rafael Devers and Marcell Ozuna. I'm trying to trade one or both of these guys by the deadline on the 31st.

Matt Mclain has been injured all year. The annoying thing with his injury was on draft day, his shoulder injury was labelled as one that might cause him to miss a week or two. Then all of a sudden in turned into a long term injury. I'm aware fully of his situation because I drafted him.

Lol this city has been gunning for Ross Atkins ever since we lost to the Twins last year in the playoffs. It’s hard to really pinpoint the responsibility of that idiotic move to pull Barrios the way they did. Such an unmotivating move. I really think John Schneider has got to go. I think he’s been coasting on fumes this entire year and he doesn’t deserve his job. He lost the room and how does anyone take him seriously? I would love to see someone like Terry Francone or Joe Madden as our next manager. Both are available I believe.

Also Bo Bichette is worth nothing right now. The best move is to extend Guerrero and let Bichette reset his market value next year and hopefully put up some fabulous numbers to help this team win. And then if it’s worth it maybe they can approach a late season extension with Bo.

I threw in the towel on the year. All my big money guys got hurt or having bad years. I got one start out of Spencer Strider for fuck sakes and Julio Rodriguez did nothing for me the first half. I lost Louis Robert for almost the first half the season, and Kodi Senga was supposed to miss about a month, here we are past the all-star break and still hasn't pitched. Those are a just some of the issues with my team.

I don't understand why people are even wasting there breath or time thinking about John Schneider. He's the last person people need to be worrying about. Changing the manager won't accomplish anything with this team.
I am not talking about getting rid of him as a means to improve this current squad lol. I would let him play out the year but going into next season we definitely need a new manager and a new general manager….. But I hate to say it, I really don’t think Ross is going anywhere. I’ve been hearing some inner circle rumblings about how impressive it is to make the playoffs so many times in his nine years. I personally don’t think he should be given another chance because he obviously had an idea and it failed…. But I don’t think they are prepared to get rid of him. So the manager will be the fall guy.

Again I really hate to say this because we all know how bad the Blue Jays are this year. But on the Ross Atkins resume, doing a complete rebuild starting from 2017 and making the playoffs in 2020, 2022 and 2023 with 2021 also being a really good year that they just didn’t make it…. I am the furthest thing from a Ross Atkins supporter, because I hate some of his moves and his failure to properly address the power concerns…. But in the eyes of the organization, I really don’t think he’s going anywhere. I started looking at things through another lens regarding Ross, and he’s not a dealbreaker for me anymore

I can't see a situation where Atkins gets to fire another manager and blame things on him. You only get to fire so many managers before people need a bigger change.

Making to the playoffs in baseball is not that hard anymore. 1/3rd of the teams make it in. It's not like 92 & 93 when only 4 teams made it in. If you have a payroll he's had, you need do to more then make it to the playoffs a bunch of years and not win a single game. I was a huge supporter of these guys for the first 5 years, especially in 2021when they were literally the best team in baseball the last two months but it was too little too late.

Since then, they let Semien walk, completely depleted the farm system which Shapiro blasted AA for, and basically went on record to say they will always a good farm system going forward. Now here we are 9 years later with a terrible farm system and team that's in last place in the AL with a very bleak future. 9 years with zero playoff wins, and now last place team with bleak future that is 8th payroll is simply unacceptable. I'm not sure how else you can look at it.

Like they literally did nothing to fix the problems they had last year. The strategy was Ohtani or bust?

I agree with everything. i’m just afraid the organization won’t see it that way. Unfortunately, Mark Shapiro is holding his hand and protecting his Cleveland friend..
