Jim Abbotts record was very similar to Roger Clemens in 1991 where Clemens won the Cy Young award, so he must’ve been some kind of a finalist at 18 and 11.

Abbott was 3rd in 1991 AL Cy Young Award voting. You can see that in the stats graphic I posted - the Awards column on the right side edge.

In Cricket, there is a long list of batsmen who played in five Test matches or less. In almost all cases, a bowler discovered a weakness in the player's ability to defend deliveries, the batsman was unable to adjust, and every other bowler dismissed him in the same manner until he was dropped from the International squad.

A typical tactic to use against a Test newb is to bowl a short delivery where the bounce is aimed at the batsman's ribs. The bowler hopes that the batsman will use his gloves to defend his body, the ball will hit the gloves, and one of the fielders will catch it in the air. If that works, bowlers will keep doing that, as long as it works.

In baseball, if a pitcher throws near a batter's head, there's usually a bench-clearing brawl. In Test cricket, the bowler can do that only once in six deliveries, or a penalty run will count, but the delivery won't.

Jim Abbott finished third that year? I didn’t see the finalists on the side of the graph. But your post just now reminds me of when Clemens hit Matt Nokes.

Next up for the Blue Jays: Two games in Philadelphia against the team with the best record in the majors. Just what the doctor ordered. If the Phillies win both, will that finally get ownership to do something?

So far this is the line on Teoscar Hernandez this season as Eric Swanson throws batting practice….. currently Hernandez is on pace to hit 40 home runs and over 100 RBI. And even after he openly admitted at last year‘s trade deadline, that he would welcome a trade back to Toronto, Ross Atkins still didn’t think to reunite him with Guerrero or scoop him up as a free agent. Wait… What do the experts say? “His defence sucks“ LMAO…. Right right right… The Los Angeles Dodgers have been to the World Series three times in the past seven years, they have a payroll of 100 trillion dollars… the biggest market to appease in all of sports, and every single expectation in the world to deliver a World Series championship…… and Teoscar Hernandez is good enough to play right field for them. But we got rid of him because his defence sucks LMAO……. Right right right.

Great job for Teoscar for hitting his 10th. Currently in third place in National League home runs. Trailing Ozuna from the Braves and Ohtani from the Dodgers. And also great job on Hernandez with his 29th RBI this year! Imagine him signed with a multi year in Toronto because because we actually wanted him. Let’s ignore the fact that he actually liked being a Blue Jay. I’m so happy that he’s providing so much protection in the Dodger lineup……. Great job Ross the boss!

At 17 - 20 they need .600 ball the rest of the way to get a WC

Team needs tp purge bad management then sell all FAs so they can dump salary and add to the farm system
and get some FAs next year so they can compete

Why wait until the deadline? Trade a hot FA now while their value is high

A few empty seats this year means fuller stadium next year

Very interesting analytical breakdown of Vladimir Guerrero jr for those that like metrics and information about what has gone wrong.

The Jays have the eighth-highest payroll and that $ $ has bought them last place in the AL East
and the sixth-worst farm system, per ESPN.

I still go to games as the stadium is so fan friendly and so cheap, I walk around the ball park and get exercise
(just take your own food as all they sell is way overpriced junk food),
but they are not worth watching on TV
