The same was said when Albert Pujols signed with the Angel years ago. That signing secured them a 20 year $3 billion television deal with FOX
I can’t understand how Pujols, Trout and Ohtani all were mainstays in the Angels batting order, and they accomplished shit on a stick. How do you not build around those guys?

Killed me watching the era's of Hentgen/Clemens/Halladay/
Me too. I love Roger Clemens don’t get me started lol. Every once in a while I start posting these Rocket frenzies for no reason in particular. I just have an obsession with Clemens. I’m not even quite sure why.

Yeah Delgado was a real waste as well…. My goodness what a talent!

Actually, you can. You'd have to retain $50-60M of his salary.
omg 😳 nobody is worth that kind of money. Not even a 1998 Stacy Dash. Almost but naw lol

He is worth it. The amount the Dodgers will make in jersey sales alone and marketing him in Japan will be insane. The California market alone will do wonders for them by having him. Plus I'm sure they will get some kind of television deal in Japan with him. It's the perfect situation for both parties.

I’ve always wondered that too…the answer I think is crummy management, I mean what more do you need to build around.

Because these GMs have a budget, and they blow their whole budget on that one player and can't afford anyone else. Then they have to try to convince the owner up their budget and the owners are probably like "I just gave you the green light to give Mike Trout 400 milllion, and now you tell me you need more money??? Any the fuck can't we beat Tampa Bay when I paying one person what there entire roster gets??"

That's probably how that convo goes.

Hey Phil. It's not our money. We just want to have a competitive team to cheer for. Whetever they'd have paid him, Rogers was gonna be ahead of the game financially and in terms of increased cred from the fan base. My suggestion of $650M for 9 years was actually a higher annual average salary.

Time will tell. He is turning 30 during next season and he has had injuries. The Giants need a star and they keep getting rejected by free agents, so I imagine he won’t be very popular in Northern California. Also I’m sure Anaheim is not too thrilled with him at the moment. When he announced he was signing with the Dodgers, I checked out his Instagram account out of curiosity, there were a number of comments from people that felt betrayed by his decision. I went to a random Mets versus the Angels game in New York this summer, and he is a huge draw and it was very cultural.

But to feel like he’s worth 30 million more per season than Aaron Judge, I just don’t believe that.

Aw geez, here we go.
Perfection is above ^^^^

…..you guys want to talk great Bluejay free agents? The Rocket was an incredible free agent. Gord Ash went to him personally and sold him on the prospect of signing with Toronto. And then two years later he said, “wtf are you guys doing? Nobody wants to win here, trade me now! You bozo didn’t even re-sign my friend Jose Canseco” Lmao.

Was a wasted era that was tough to see as a young fan at the time.

Now that Shohei & Soto are no longer options, re-make your Jays roster.
Are you paying Chapman 100+?
I would have rather signed Candelario for 75.
I'd bring back Kiermaier. Overpaying for Bellinger? Yamamoto?

I don’t know Cody Bellinger might happen. What’s that thing yesterday about his fiancé posting on her Instagram a photo of the CN Tower or something? I personally feel like if they obtain Cody Bellinger and Teoscar Hernandez, problem solved.

I ama a huge advocate for Teoscar Hernandez and i still am. I was telling Shack yesterday, there’s a number of reasons why I liked him so much. His presence is dangerous in a lineup and he kills mistakes. But he’s affordable for the Blue Jays, he likes Toronto, he looks good in a jays uniform, and the fans like him.

I think Teoscar and Cody Bellinger are the way to go.

Teoscar struck out 211 times last year we dont need that
……he wasn’t happy he was taking Seattle swings lol.

More than anything, he’s a big brother of Vlady and he can protect him in the lineup. Hopefully we get 25 to 30 homeruns out of it. I’d rather him than Matt Chapman that’s for sure.👍

Teo is a big swing & miss guy. Lackadaisical D. Not ideal for this team. there's a definite nostalgia appeal. Plus, yes he & Vladdy were very close. His last game as a Blue Jay was hitting 2 clutch HRs in the game 2 debacle vs Seattle.
I don't think he's the answer. I don't know what the right answer is now, tbh.
I'd put a package together and try for Arenado in STL. Then sign Bellinger and we're talking. Or throw $$ at Yamamoto (even though Shohei's deal practically lays the foundation for him signing in LA).
I'm much less optimistic about what this team looks like come spring training.
Shohei would have appeased the fan in me & set this city/country on fire with excitement. Instead it feels like we're back to square one & I want to know why the fuck Berrios was pulled so fast! lol

I'd bet Arenado has some type of no trade clause in his contract, and my guess is Bellinger will re-up with the cubs unless the jays come over the top of the cubs by about 30 million. (An extra year like they had to do with Springer). I don't think the Jays want to get into the habit of having to give every free agent an extra year or 30 million just to come here. Having said that, they are desperate now. My guess is they're calling teams that don't have a lot of money (perhaps their old friends in Cleveland) and saying "so lets talk J-Ram".

I'm not thrilled about Bellinger the same way I would be about Sho or Soto.
It's looking more & more likely we'll do a mix of Votto at DH (maybe some 1B), overpay Chapman & who knows in the outfield.

Rumors have had our front office linked to Milwaukee & Yelich since before Yelich was dealt to Milwaukee from Florida.

If we trade for Yelich I doubt we'd have enough prospect capital left to make my Arenado pipe dream come true.

Tough getting hyped for what this team is going to look like.

Fast forward 2 yrs, I don't think Bo wants to be here long term & maybe Vlad will sign if we (over)pay
