I absolutely love the United States. I spend so much time in the United States, that I’m literally a part-time citizen lol I have family and friends scattered all over the US.

One of the guys on The Walk Off Podcast, was saying it’s not like Japan has any reason to show any loyalty to the US, as history would indicate. His co-host was even questioning that controversial comment/theory. But who knows, maybe there is some truth of that?

I'd be shocked if Ohtani signs here.
I don't think management gives two shits about winning a championship. Their mandate is to make money and increase the value of the franchise. Build a good enough team to just make the playoffs and then see what happens.

Try googling “Ohtani” and Google is in a complete frenzy right now. Look at some of these headlines lol. Not for nothing, but this hype and anticipation is crazy.

He'll be signing here for sure, already arrived at the airport. Vegas odds updated. If there's anything I've learned is never ignore the Vegas

Although it appears he was not headed to Toronto, Vegas now has him at -115 or 54% chance of signing with Jays.

Ohtani was to sign with Toronto tonight.
Yes the official signing ceremony was supposed to take place at that dinner. Ross Atkins, Mark Shapiro, Steve Simmons, Willie Upshaw, Kelly Gruber, Duane Ward, Cito Gaston, Jose Bautista, Dave Steib and of course Shoei Ohtani were all at Yusei Kikuchi’s dinner reservation for 50 people at that great sushi place across the street from “Skydome.” Lmao. Didn’t we all see which direction the plane was going? Clearly it was going to Toronto headed right to that sushi dinner.

Ohtani was ON THAT PLANE! No wait, it was only the guy from Dragons Den. They look a little alike…. well not really but it’s OK….

Next thing you know, they’re going to be following Ohtani‘s plane like the camera followed OJ’s Branco. 🤣

Maybe they can create an updated version of the OJ Simpson car chase from California to Toronto.

Toronto
Holy shit, 10 years at $700 million.
Hats off to management for trying to sign Ohtani. It really was too big a bite for Toronto to swallow. This team may get lucky in the future but realistically it is prospect development that will win just as much as the big name disappointments.

Imagine that money, man.... His average yearly salary divided into 162 games would equate to over $400,000 per game....
Imagine the fan base if he’s hitting 230 on the IL because of his nagging injuries over the last few years.

Realistically, who are we kidding? The Dodgers have been very quiet with their signings of free agents last season, and they’ve been doing nothing but talking about focussing every drop on Ohtani when he becomes a free agent. Everyone was even talking about this last year. He was their guy, and they were not going to let anything stand in the way of that. Respect to the Blue Jays for even getting Ohtani to think twice.
