Answer my question - Give me an example of a time in history when a terror group surrendered because they were so concerned about civilian deaths. Just one.

Hamas although deemed a terrorist group is the governing body of Gaza therefore they must capitulate and surrender along with all their riches. Also since you admit they are a terror group, you also then agree they are responsible for the hell brought onto it's citizens.

If you cannot, then why will that strategy of mounting civilian losses in indiscriminate bombings persuade Hamas to surrender?

Very simple, they give up all the hostages and surrender. A ceasefire would follow and then a 2 state solution has a chance. GIVE IT UP, it's not happening but you can show them the way by giving up any property you own to the indigenous folks it was stolen from years ago.

Also, please explain, what does Israel have to gain from a Hamas surrender?. Think politically. That would force Israel to work on Palestinian statehood. So two months in and very little has changed, other than a brief ceasefire and hostage exchange. Nor has anything changed here.
