Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says the ground invasion of Gaza is "close" and that the world should prepare for a lengthy battle to eradicate Hamas in the Palestinian territory.
"It's not a question of weeks, but a question of months," Gallant told Fox News foreign correspondent Trey Yingst on Friday.
Gallant said he cannot give a precise date for the start of the operation, but plans are underway for the Israelis to enter Gaza and destroy Hamas and its governing capabilities. The army's mission is to return some 229 hostages to their families, secure Israel's southern area and deter Israel's adversaries in the region from joining the war.
"I'm the son of holocaust survivors," Gallant said. "I'm not going to let it happen again."

Except, Frank. This is happening because HAMAS raided a rock festival in Israel and murdered 1,000+ Israeli civilians. And HAMAS is using civilian areas as military strongpoints.

Israelis, the UN and the US themselves all warned after 2021's round of violence that without moves towards peace more violence would occur.
If you were Palestinian and living in Gaza you'd be doing the same thing. 17 years of blockade, 5 'wars' since 2008, no peace talks, 50% unemployment and a miserable life. You'd be fighting against Israel too if you were there.
Don't blame Hamas for a 75 year old occupation, the blockade or turning the Gaza concentration camp into a death camp.
That's all on the US backed, nuclear armed, occupying power.
Netanyahu was warned by Egypt about this attack, likely he let it go on because he thought it would once again be more homemade missiles that would mostly be stopped by the US funded 'iron dome'. Likely Hamas was just as surprised by Netanyahu that they got beyond the prison walls for once.

Because Franky thinks Hamas and Israel are alike....Israel is basically terrorists in his view....there are no civilians there...just one big lump of land full of Jews that are full of hate....and Palestinians are the only victims in this conflict and Hamas is their only White Knight that fights for their cause....that pretty much sums up his logic in all this...that's his argument...Hamas-not terrrorists...Israel - terrorists....
The reason that Gaza is isolated and blockaded is that HAMAS runs Gaza and murders Israeli civilians. That's why Gaza is not integrated with the rest of Israel.

You know what would end the war??????................ HAMAS returning the hostages and handing over the HAMAS militants who perpetrated those atrocities for trial and execution by Israel and then paying a large cash penalty and giving assurances that this type of mass civilian killing would never again happen. It's what ANY civilized ruling entity would do.
But HAMAS set this all up to get the Israeli reaction that it is getting. Sucks for the Gazans, but Israel cannot react in any other way.

Hardly, they were to protect Jewish settlers (mostly Orthodox) and destroy Palestinian homes. King Solomon's Judea must be re-established. Did he honestly believe there would not be a response. Now it's a war of annihilation, Hezbollah will soon widen the war. What the American response will be, remains to be seen.
