Lewiston Maine was where Ali and Liston had their fight. Not far from Montreal.

Thoughts and prayers. Guns don't kill people. This is not the time to politicize deaths. Its mental health! Freedumb!!. 'Muricuh!!

There I summarized the response.
Yah, if it isn’t guns it will be fertilizer bombs. Should fertilizer be banned??

This guy is a walking time bomb waiting to go off.

He has access to firearms. Knows how to use them and has mental health issues.

Yikes!
Once again...this is what soft on crime gets you. Lots of people knew where this would likely go and they allowed him to run loose rather than put him in the rubber ranch for keeps. If he doesn`t kill himself, the cops need to fill him full of bullets asap to close this.

I'm sure we'll hear the usual political diatribe from the left - white male privilege, ban assault weapons now etc. At least they can't pull the 'Red State' card since Maine is a firmly entrenched 'Blue State'.
Apparently the shooter was committed to a mental facility for two weeks during the summer because he was hearing voices in his head telling him to shoot up the army base he worked at. Why they didn't confiscate his guns when he was released is beyond me?

Because he's a Merkan and he has the right to bear arms in case the lefties tell him to wear a COVID mask and he has to fight for his "liberty".

Judging by the response so far I see I am not the only one who have lost empathy towards such situation.

Guns kills people and protects basically no one.

Worst is the majority of people killed or injured is by far from mishandling of guns.. Gun accident...

Because in the US they like everyone to buy guns. It's good money.

You need to ban guns before someone is committed to a mental facility. Because out of 1 who is committed 10 others are not.

Maine has yellow flag laws which would have temporarily taken away this man's firearms when he was committed to a mental facility.
Not sure what happened here but I hope a proper investigation is done into how this man was allowed to have firearms.

Is there an exception for a gun instructor and army reservist?
