Will say, back in the 1990s, the financial industry realized just how important the public trust is.

Incase some don’t know what that is. It is the trust the public has, in the “institution”. Be that government, law enforcement, the financial system. Pretty much anyone/anything that has power over the public.

That doesn’t invalidate, the sentiment no matter the number. Think about what they do, how we use them. During working years they are not pets. They are not treated like pets, that would be a big mistake. Like us, they get injured, they get sick. And for a long time cast aside.

Attempted murder on police officer(s), since he shot at the police.
Murder of a K9 (in the US thats a serious charge. Not sure about Canada though).
Possession of a gun.
Fleeing from police.
And probably a bunch of other charges as well.

Yeah there’s a number of firearm charges you’re missing. Sadly, I don’t have confidence many won’t be plea bargained. Assuming they get him.

If I'm the judge I'm giving him:

  • 15 years for attempting to murder a cop
  • 5 years for killing K9
  • 3 years for possession of an illegal gun
  • 1 year for fleeing police

That adds up to 24 years (y)

I’d love to see no pleas when the totality of the situation is considered. It will come with a significant cost. Trials vs cheap, speedy, convictions. That said. Good defence lawyers will get more expensive too. Might give pause to at least a few. Will mean likely some cases lost. Worth that price imo.

Not sure where I stand on mandatory minimums. Know I hate what the liberals did. Our system, even before too soft. Ditto bail. On the whole, like capital punishment, depending on some specifics and the totality. We are way too soft. And just like pre teens an teens they are entitled and it’s costing.

“Who knows”…here it’s bad, some places seems to have some better luck. These days, I would argue here anyways. Recidivism is so high, because we are too soft. Especially when it comes to violent crimes.

Capital punishment.

I would bet money 25% those of you who read that. Can remember 4 victim names. Funny how we remember their names but not the victims….And for families, living through the trial, media attention up the wazoo, no closure for years and years. Every parole hearing their names are headlines and more

At a third of the pay, with no benefits, holidays etc.

Could hire 4 student immigrants on 1 cops salary.

Equals close to 25,000 student immigrant cops saturating the city and ridding Toronto of all crime like a super absorbent sponge sopping up liquid messes.
