Amusing to see the freedom warrior get all upset about this.
1. Mitch White needed to be activated or waived (due to the rules of the 60 Day IL and the 30 day rehab)
2. Who else were the Jays going to demote? No pitcher is worse than Bass right now -- maybe Richards is an equal, but Richards can go more innings which they need since they will be going with some bullpen starts the rest of the mo
3. You can't demote Bass without designating him for assignment - he has no options to be demoted (without designation)
3. There is zero risk that Bass will be claimed on waivers. And no teams may want his issues -- but moreso no team would pay him $3M when he is below replacement level right now.
Nobody will claim him even if they have no issues with his philosophies - they would need to assume the remainder of his $3m contract this year and also his $3m contract for next year (which there is a team option to buyout for a $1m).
I suppose at some point the Jays could cut him a cheque of his remaining contract and outright release him e(not sure if he is able to refuse demotion after he clears waivers) At that point some team may take him -- but its lots of issues to take on for mediocre pitcher.
He is just not good enough to be claimed on waivers though (issue / no issues aside)
Where were the Jays concerning LGBTQ a few years ago ? Or Bud Light or Target or anyone else that is now

They were silent but it has become good for business to be LGBTQ friendly so they jump on the bandwagon,
and then THEY BURY BASS FOR QUOTING THE BIBLE. Bass has a right to state his non violent opinion
even if you do not agree. If Bass thinks they demoted him for stating an opinion that is politically
incorrect then he should sue

Before making posts like this you should learn how baseball rosters and contracts work. You clearly do not. Who exactly would you have demoted to keep Bass around?
This was a baseball decision that was made easier by.Bass performance on the field and his inability to go more than an inning. If you are claiming this was not a baseball decision why didn’t the Jays designate him earlier when he made his transgressions? Why was it only done to accommodate a necessary player move?
The Jays called up Mitch White because they needed some length out of the pen with Manoah out. Do you not understand the implications of playing a few bullpen day gamrs, and having too many 1 inning relievers like Bass?
Mitch White 30 day rehab stint was nearly over. At that point he MUST get called up or placed on waivers. Do you not understand what a 30 day rehab stint implies after a 60 day DL stint?
Mitch White is not really good. Neither is Bass. But at least White serves a role that the Jays currently need .. a reliever who can multiple inings.. .. a low leverage reliever like Bass who can’t go multiple innings does not serve a role right now.
If you are the Jays who do you demote instead of Bass?
What team would spend 3m this year and next, to claim Bass?
What exactly is Bass going to sue for? He is going to get his full contract this year even if released plus the 1m buyout next year. He does not get any money withheld .. so again what is the basis for his lawsuit?
since nobody claimed him off waivers is he also going to sue MLB? Hard to argue that when a team can find a replacement player level at $600,000 that will do just as well as Bass at $3,000,000. When you suck on the field, and it’s easy to argue the decisions to demote / not claim you how the hell can you sue.. especially when the team kept you around until you were demoted because a baseball decision needed to be made.
But please tell us what baseball decision would have been smarter for the Jays than demoting Bass?
Wont work because Jays will just claim he was released because of poor pitching performance (which is partially true).
Other then that I agree with your post, players should never have to apologize for their beliefs

Rumor is the players arent happy how Schneider, Atkins and Shapiro treated Bass, and now there's a rift in the clubhouse

Here are the facts:
1. Mitch White either had to be called up or placed on waivers -- and he would have certainly been claimed on waivers given his minimum contract of $743,000. There was no third alternative such as placing him on Buffalo. Given that the Jays needed a long reliever it was logical to not waive him and give him a shot and hope he figures it out.
2. Anthony Bass was not going to get claimed with $4m left on his contract (whether the Jays consider bringing him back after 10 days)
3. The Jays needed relievers with length due to Manoah's issues.,
Analyzing it by looking at what White did today, or even before doesn't really make sense. Yes White sort of stinks, but so does Bass, and White makes more sense for the next 10 days and is a waiver risk unlike Bass.
Taking the politics purely out of it though, the lack of organizational depth the Jays have in their pitching ranks is a real issue for them. They are lucky they really have not had any injuries in the starting rotation, and only limited injuries in their pen.
Where were you? The Jays have been having Pride Weekend for 4 or 5 years now. You just noticed now? Is it now just because you support Bass' opinion?
He exercised his right. However he is a Blue Jays employee and if he is publicly saying things that the team feels do not represent their views they also have a right to deal with him as they see fit. Keep in mind that Atkins has stated that the demotion was mainly performance related, and only minorly due to the comments.
Bass is a self-consumed asshole. It was a short while ago that he felt the need to complain on social media that a flight crew made his wife clean up a horrendous mess their kids made on a flight. God forbid that he and/or his family be held accountable for their actions. The outrage.
They've taken stands on social issues before. They dumped Osuna's ass pretty quick.

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequence, Anthony Bass has the IQ of a snow pea. He broke the cardinal rule, never embarrass your employer. An apology doesn't cut if it's not sincere. He has a sharp sense of entitlement, first the airplane incident, now this, hopefully the Giants pick him up.

From the front office to the communications strategy surrounding Bass’ rather prominent anti-LGBQT+ stance, the team has handled it abysmally and the players in the clubhouse are not pleased as a result.
Not everyone on the team appreciated Bass’ attention-seeking social media activity this season that has been a nuisance on more than one occasion. By that logic, if Bass supported Mark Saunders for Toronto mayor and the Blue Jay organization supported Olivia Chow should they have the right to discipline him for that?
