I saw a few names that I don't agree with. I'll get into that when I have a chance.

Who wrote this list?

Mike Trout. A player who puts up big numbers for a losing team or when there is nothing on the line. He came up against his team mate Ohtani in the WBC with the game on the line and struck out. Overrated

On the other hand, calling Derek Jeter who came up clutch after clutch to win 4 rings overrated is moronic.

BoBoFette has been the American League hits leader for the past two years and is ahead this year.
You are not wrong. I think I'm only basing this on the fact that he's let me down on several prop bets last year. So I just gave up putting any money on him.

He's having one hell of a year this year though.

The thing about Derek is that his post season numbers were almost identical to his other numbers.

Playing against the superior teams with the best players.

He didn't have the best range but what he got to he fielded.

The consummate professional on and off the field.

Yet still vastly overrated.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. seems to be trying to make the list.
agree

do not give into hype esp with Vlad

no one has been hyped more than vlad in any sport except tiger woods

it is marketing used to to sell

in tigers case the hype was real but if he had faltered and became just another good player but not a superstar ,
like vlad has, the hype would have continued, as it has with vlad ,
as they milk the hype for all the money they can make

Jeter is overrated based on how he is rated. People think he is the greatest SS of all time but in reality I would take Cal Ripken over Jeter and in alot of ways even take Ozzie Smith over him. Jeter was an average hitter for the 2 spot but defence was way behind either of the other two. Range wise Ripken and Jeter were similar but Ripken anticipated the play much better.

Ones I am suprised that aren't on the list, Stanton for sure should be there, as well as Judge but to a lesser extent. Judge just has too much swing and miss and trouble with the outside breaking pitch.

Yankees are treated like Leafs and Habs are in hockey, the Lakers in basketball. All the players get a bump in their status just based on wearing that jersey.

I'm sensing a strong anti-yankee bias here....

Saying Jeter was an average 2 spot hitter is ludicrous. Guy had is a lifetime .310 hitter with a OBP of .377. That's pretty far from average.

Best SS of all time was Alex Rodriguez. We all know why.....Ernie Banks was probably number 2. Ripken 3. Then I would put in Jeter..But Jesus did Derek have a habit of coming through when the chips were on the line. Ozzie Smith got better as he got older. How many times do you see that? He's right there as well.

Is Stanton overrated?...When he's healthy he's money. But that hasn't been the case the last few years. I watch all of their games. He's a great DH. Problem is that he hits better when he pays the field. But he's a below average fielder. So yeah I would say that isn't what they thought they were getting.

Judge is as advertised. He's a plus fielder and a plus hitter. At the beginning of last year he eliminated a little wiggle he used to do with his bat before getting set for the pitch. This seems to have shortened his approach to the ball. He waits a little longer. The results then followed. He's got so much power that he really doesn't have to fully meet a ball to get it out. The beauty with Aaron is his power to all fields. He's our captain and leader. The fans love him in the big apple. I figure the wheels will drop off in about 4 years or so though. Then the Yanks will be stuck with that contract. A move to first base might be inevitable. Eh it worked well for Hank Aaron.

My take from the cheap seats....

Did you go to any of the games when the Yanks were in town? I thought I saw you in the stands.
A friend wanted to go but we just stayed in and watched the Jays broadcast.

Speaking of broadcasts. Shulman and Buck are great to listen too no doubt. I don't know one person who doesn't like to listen to a game called by Dan Shulman. You just feel like he is the voice of baseball somehow.

But right there with a quality product is the Yankee broadcast on the Yes network with Michael Kay, David Cone and Paul O'Neil. The stories and banter between Cone and O'Neil are tremendous. It's funny because O'Neil never said squat as a player. He was viewed as introverted and moody by the media that it looked like he despised.
The Yankee broadcast also has Meredith Marakovits, who is our version of Hazel Mae.

As an old Dodger fan, I would say Clayton Kershaw based on his post-season play. The regular season Kershaw and the post-season Kershaw are like 2 different pitchers.
