The $6.1 Million prediction for Bichette's 2023 salary was from an article published in October, 2021. It's really difficult to find the article, because mlbtraderumours(dot)com doesn't have separate urls for each story.

The guy who made the prediction uses mathematical algorithms that are based on Major League service, statistics, and historical data of salaries for arbitration-eligible players with similar profiles. Earlier on Saturday, your sportsnet(dot)ca link had a sublink leading directly to that story, but now it goes to the current news page of mlbtraderumours(dot)com. His $6.1 Million figure was determined some months before either Bichette or the Jays submitted their asking and offering
It seems that those algorithmic predictions are pretty accurate to what players end out signing for.

If Bichette's projection was based on 2021, his 2022 performance didn't help him. His projection should be a bit lower, even with salary inflation. They'll settle for very close to the 6.1. Maybe 6.2 or 6.3 to let him feel he won and hopefully assuage any hurt feelings.

Vlad Guerrero Jr has 2.157 years of Major League service time, and his 2023 contract is for $14.5 Million.

Bo Bichette has 2.063 years of Major League service time, and the Jays are offering him $5 Million for 2023, (he's asking for $7.5M).
No, Vlad has 3.157 years of service, and Bo has 3.063 years of service.

If they had 2-something years they wouldn’t be going into arbitration lol

Those were typographical errors. I noticed myself, after the fact, but I didn't edit my post because it had already been quoted by shack, (who failed to pick THAT nit). I doubt the credibility of handles who modify their posts after they have been quoted.

On a different note, the reno's on the Skydome are coming along. I mean it helps, but the stadium is still heaping pile of dog dung.

Do people think that now that Vlad has a new contract and fewer dugout buddies - that he might now hit better in the clutch and actually do something in playoff games?

Yes there was a reason they got rid of those two. It was to break up the click that was there. Alot of times there were just clowning around. I think it will be better all round now

Jays are in a strong position to contend in the east this year. Their changing the fabric of this team. The Latino influences are being fazed out. Started with the firing of Montoyo. They're addressing problems and that's all the fans can ask for.
What does this mean?

Around 1983-84, the Blue Jays had so many Latino players, (George Bell, Damaso Garcia, Alfredo Griffin, Tony Fernandez, Luis Leal), that one sportscaster referred to them as The Blue Hays.
Vlad
Kirk
Berrios
Espinal
Garcia
Zulueta
Martinez
Lopez
Horwitz

Current roster still has plenty of Latinos.

Spencer Horwitz is not Latino. He might be Jewish, but more likely someone in his paternal line married a shiksa. Horowitz is the birth surname of brothers Moses, Jerome and Samuel, better known as Moe, Curly and Shemp, from The Three Stooges.

Of Shack's list I wonder if Berrios or Espinal finish the year with them?

Berrios looked bewildered most of last year. I thought he was a great pick up when they got him but they can't have him performing like last year.

Espinal is steady but I'm sure they would upgrade given the opportunity. I'd prefer if him and Bo switched positions myself. Can't see Bo going for that though. Of course I could be wrong and Bo would just do what is ever best for the team.

Our outfield defence looks ridiculously good this year with Springer, Keirmaier and Varsho. Essentially 3 Centre fielders in the outfield. I was tired of seeing Teo and Lourdes looking lost out there.

You can never have enough pitching, especially a promising southpaw..
