What about it has become the Wild West? Combating child abuse and human trafficking are good things. These are things Dorsey's useless crew should have done long ago. But they were too interested in paying people top dollar to sip lattes and use the corporate gym.
Have they combatted that?

I have still not seen evidence it was an issue before the takeover. Accusations it was… yeah.

If it was an issue, then yeah. Good for Elon. But again, I don’t think Twitter was a haven for human trafficking and child exploitation. Not by a long shot.

☝This is what will happen. Not a trivial solution and probably as complicated as sending rockets to the moon and how to implement effectively. Like if you live in one country and they are super strict with crazy laws can you just use vpn or leave the country or does your point of registration/verification govern. However in theory the idea is good. Also how to deal with changing laws. They deserve all the respect if they can figure this out.

☝This is why they freaking out and getting their people bots to try and undermine people opinions on Twitter.

☝this really scares them and how much info and intel he actually has now. No wonder they trying to bring him down.

Yes… that’s what scares “us”. You figured it out Inspector Gadget.

Since when is them defined as you/us? Since you validated it means your are them and this applies to you. Got it. Thanks for clarifying.

Anyone entering Twitter now will work in a much smaller company than it was before Musk took over. While the exact number of departures under his watch is unclear, there were nearly 7,400 people with access to Twitter’s internal systems before he laid off about half the company. That number, which excludes the thousands of outside contractors Musk also cut, has since fallen to just over 2,700 people as of press time, according to two people who have seen the numbers.
The departures have included long-tenured engineers, some with more than a decade of experience at the company, as well as a growing list of corporate leaders. Twitter’s CEO, CFO, and chief legal officer were all removed on Musk’s first day. Twitter’s top advertising and content partnership leaders have either resigned or been fired. And multiple “critical” teams were completely gutted by the layoffs and resignations, according to current and former employees.
Twitter doesn’t have a press department to contact for comment.

About time Twitter got rid of the grifters and bloat ware and promoted the Twitter engineers who actually do the work 👏

You don't actually know anything about the internal work structure of Twitter, do you?

You have no idea who's lazy, who's competent? In most jobs, most people are hard-working and competent because people are hard-wired to want to be good at their jobs. I don't see any reason why the employees at Twitter should be uniquely lazy and useless. However, I do know that Elmus is behaving more and more weirdly as time goes on and appears to be unstable.

Twitter is functioning way better with 75-80% less employees. Therefore bloatware grifters.

It's hard to imagine that any company would function adequately in the long term with 20% staff.

There should be performance and security issues with Twitter sooner or later.

He cleaned house. As far as you and I know, it may have been necessary. The platform is functioning with 20% staff which would be impossible if that other 80% was required - just imagine any other business operating [better] after letting go of so much staff...

Quality over quantity.

At this time, it's presumptuous of you to believe you know better than Musk about who, why, and how many to fire.

You don't "clean house" by firing 80% of your staff. How many bad employees does a business have 5% or 10%?... Not 80%.

The site will deteriorate. The firings only happened a week or two back.

What is it to you? That's right it means nothing to you. Not that you know anything about whether employees were needed or had to be cut in the first place. All you have to say is that Elon said so. Thats like showing someone the Bible when they ask you to prove God exists. In any other scenario, in any other time, you would support worker rights - whether you are far left or far right. That is one similarity between left wing and right wing populists. However here you are supporting a billionaire businessman who is mistreating his employees and you think they are all grifters....why? Because Elon told you so?

So much for thinking for yourself you have been espousing in your other responses. Its utter stupidity.

As someone who was a former software engineer, who worked for one of the biggest software companies out there for literally half my career, let me tell you, the site being up doesn't depend on the number of people. It runs on state of the art infrastructure, and only needs engineers to fix bugs, implement enhancements/new features etc., Twitter at the moment, has tons of bugs and it has been acting up more since the layoffs.

Elon is also known to be a boss who constantly changes his mind, so it is entirely possible he is working with an overworked skeleton crew, who cannot quit because of visa issues or other life circumstances, and is running around trying to cope with constantly changing priorities. Until he hires more people, specifically managers to shield those engineers from Elon, it is unlikely Twitter will ship a robust product.

What exactly has Twitter shipped so far? A hastily launched blue verified product, that was tabled just as fast.

Musk is flailing. He is no longer pretending to be centrist. He's definitely gone extreme right-wing. First, the premise that Twitter unfairly limited or devalued posts by right-wingers is bullshit, which the company admitted just over a year ago....and numerous studies have shown to be false:

Today, we're hearing that he's started to suspend or ban accounts that were tracking right-wing hate speech on the platform. He's basically allowing fringe/right-wing hate mongers and trolls dictate what should be allowed. Well, good luck with that Elon. Here's the thing: He could face some serious issues with Apple and Google if he allows this shit to degenerate. They could review the app and decide to no longer allow it to be carried in their App stores. Never mind his desire to charge people...which could see Apple or Google get a 30% cut of sales.

More advertisers are pulling out, at least temporarily, to see how the dust settles. He is calling mainstream media fake news (like Trump), and could start banning journalists or news organizations that are critical of him or his holdings. Wouldn't surprise me.

The more he acts like this, the more I start to wonder if this is going to be a death by a thousand cuts. All self-inflicted....If he caters to the right-wingers, and everybody else leaves....congrats, he has Parler or Truth Social. And look at how successful they are...

For the time being, I'm going to hang in. I block far right bullshit anyway. And it's a fine source of titty photos.

But I expect that there will come a time when it's sunk to such an extent that its competitors look more attractive and I will jump - along with everyone else.

Musk appears to have some ongoing mental health issues.

yeah, that's true. It's like he need the validation from people to feel like a big man. But what is going on here is the "trust factor" in the Twitter brand is quickly eroding. At some point, it hits a critical point where there will be no saving it. Users will jump to competitors (like how Myspace people jumped to Facebook), and advertisers will not want to spend a lot of time/money on a platform that only caters to a fringe minority of right-wing extremists. So...would Musk continue to fund this out of his own pocket? A site that runs on a shoe string budget, brings in little revenue, and is worth a fraction for what he paid for it???
