I said in Sept that the Leafs picking up Murray and Samsonov were decisions made out of fear.

Sometimes you have to put your faith in youngsters, the Leafs young goalies could end up carrying this team. At the moment it's Kallgren and Petruzzelli, Joseph Woll may also play a role as the season progresses.

I'm glad my Abruzzese paisan has been called up. He may end up doing for the Leafs what Bubba Fagioli is doing for Juventus.

Kallgren's GAA and Save percentage were terrible last year.
The Leafs carried him. Same way they carried Mrazek.
His GAA and Save percentage this year is also not good.
He lost his 1st 3 games to bottom feeders.
Sure he beat Carolina and held off Boston but I would say the team in front of him played fantastic.
The Leafs it looks like also carried Campbell. His GAA and Save percentage this year is terrible.
This is Leafs window to go for it during the Matthew's era.
They're not going to rely on 2 unproven rookie goalies to go into the playoffs.
Petruzelli is still developing.
Relying on Kallgren is more of a gamble than either Murray or Samsonov.
Samsonov has 6 wins. Only one other goalie in the league has more wins and he plays for Boston who the Leafs just beat.

Last year:
Mrazek 12 wins 6 losses .888 save % 3.34 GAA
Kallgren 8 wins 5 losses .888 save % 3.31 GAA
Stats are almost exactly the same and we all know how bad Mrazek is.

Good points superstar 88 but I still see Murray and Samsonov as band aid solutions.

The defense has improved but the harsh reality is, the Leafs chances of winning the Stanley Cup (in the next millennium) depends on them drafting and developing goalies. Otherwise the Chicago Cubs record of futility beckons. The Montreal Canadiens were able to develop Patrick Roy and Carey Price, the Leafs haven't developed a goalie since Felix Potvin. Let either/or Kallgren, Petruzzelli and Woll fight it out for the No.1.

Btw the Cleveland Browns haven't competed in a Championship Final since Jim Brown was their running back.

At one point, the Habs had Dryden, Vachon, Esposito and Worsley.

Between Roy and Price, the Habs had Jose Theodore.
Now that is solid list of goaltenders.

Espo and Vachon had better and longer careers than Dryden who was lucky enough to be playing behind perhaps the greatest assembly of skaters in hockey history. They kept the 3rd best goalie.

It made me misty when I saw Sittler bawling his eyes out when they introduced Borje.
These guys were close doesn't surprise me at all. God love em.

Moved to tears again.

During the highlights we got a brief glimpse of Dave Dunn feeding Dave Schultz a knuckle sandwich. He was a so so defenseman but meaner than bull mastiff, he was Salming's linemate for several seasons. Not even Big Bird wanted to fight him.I hope he was at the Arena tonight.

Awesome to see Tiger Williams there…having a Coors Light, I always thought he’d be a Labatts 50 guy.
