As assembled by Jim Gregory. A great hockey man that Ballard let go. It doomed the Leafs to mediocrity for 2 decades.
When I was a kid, Harold Ballard used to remind me of those grumpy old men in the balcony from the Muppets.

The Philadelphia Circle Jerks were cheap shot artists, they attacked from behind looking to injure noble Borje.

Dave Dunn was with the Leafs from 1974 to 76, most of that time spent with Salming. During the 76 Playoffs, Mel Bridgeman attempted to break Borje's neck, a bench clearing brawl followed. Dunn and Schultz squared off, Dunn had unfinished business, Schultz took several haymakers but did not go down. Schultz had jumped him in an earlier bout.

I remember when Borje was almost castrated by Cowboy Bill Flett in 1981. Borje was skating back on an icing call, Fleet got behind him, stuck his knee between his legs and rode him into the boards. Poor Borje was singing soprano after that. Still hate the Circle Jerks to this day.

Interesting. Flett and Salming were teammates at one time.

I made a mistake, the offending player wasn't Bill Flett, it was a rookie named Paul Holmgren (foggy memory). Poor Borje was nearly turned into a eunuch. Cowboy Bill Flett did play for the Circle Jerks, he retired after the 1979 - 80 season.

With the player they drafted in the 1978 entry draft the Flyers could have won another Cup: Pelle Lindbergh.

Next up New Jersey ... winners of their last 10
Their top core forwards are young, small and skilled
Jesper Bratt 24 175lbs
Jack Hughes 21 175lbs
Nico Hischier 23 175lbs

Their top defenseman is Dougie Hamilton. A whopping 230lbs and shoots right.
Andreas Johnsson, remember him? Didn't make the team this year.

1st goal Jesper Bratt excellent shot top corner
2nd goal Nico Hischier excellent shot top corner
OT goal Jack Hughes creates turnover draws penalty.

Leafs strategy in OT is terrible.
I don't think they even have a strategy.
New Jersey gets possession kills time makes line change so now Hughes is fresh.
Once Tavares gets the turnover he was in the tail end of his shift.
Should have turned it around kept possession and made a line change for Matthews/Nylander.

This Jersey team is fast and their top forwards are legit.
They have Ruff so not surprised they are well coached.

Jersey is fast and fearless.

That OT strategy was interesting.

Fun team to watch. Hopefully they show more of their games.

They play Jersey again in 6 days.

Leafs have 4 OT losses. No other team has more.

They say they respect the Sabres until game time, we'll see which Leafs team shows up, "We take care of business when we need to".
