You should be arguing for everyone, including yourself, to have fully indexed pensions.
Why do you want to be looked after by the government? Everyone should take care of their own finances. The stock market, etc. is available to everyone right now. Take those Union Fees and invest them!

Not trying to take away living wages from those who take care of your kids. Why do people always try to argue that nobody should get a living wage just because they don't themselves?
The job can likely be performed via the private sector for less money. Use the savings to pay for school construction, or health care or pay down the debt. I don't want to take away anyone's wages. I want them to quit and find themselves a better paying job.

Free Market Principles should reign... But they get interfered with.

The tax pool is finite. Discussion must be had now so the Apocalypse can start now.
...
But Ford continues to cut revenue (especially municipal revenue that stopped Ford's developer buddies from making as much)

Ford had to go nuclear because the Supreme Court has deemed the right to strike a protected right under the Charter. As such there can be no back to work legislation unless the Notwithstanding clause is used.
...
He could have easily declared them essential workers and had the same arbitration process that the Police and Fire get. But he knew that the arbitrator might not do exactly what he wanted.

Good idea. Maybe all public sector unions should launch a walkout protest over the use of the Not Withstanding Clause.
Maybe the public sector unions will realize that the funds are limited and they compete with themselves and other sectors? The Not Withstanding Clause will be used more and more as things slide towards <insert word here>.

I don't like the arbitration either... I like when I hear nurses are saying fuck Canada, and going to work in the USA. A true real world demand will be formed and people will be paid what they are worth within our society.

Government employees cannot monopolize the market and then demand more money.

Canada is competing with the U.S. and other countries when it comes to nurses, doctors and other medical personnel. Not sure any other countries want our teachers and school janitors.

And that is what everyone has to understand... We are competing against an elephant within a 2 hour drive. 10x the population.

Our Health Care system is forever compared to the USA... Our Education System compared against the USA...

We tell ourselves that Canada is better, but we're not being honest with ourselves.

COVID opened my eyes... My kids excelled with online learning. Some of the best educators are on YouTube. My kids did research, found answers and taught themselves. FREE.

Nonsense.

You can't run a country unless there enough people making a living wage to pay taxes and buy crap.
Teachers aren't the problem, its corporate profit and not paying taxes.

You're discounting off-hand.

The CBC article you cite is about a family that is a notorious Liberal Party supporter.

You cannot run a country with buffoons in charge and making the decisions; regardless of which party is in. They are politicians; not professionals.

My kids have the printing skills of a Grade 3 student from the '80s. Shameful. There are/were some great teachers out there. I had one in Grade 6 that focused us on picking up on the scam and influence that comes from advertising and politicians. I had another in high school that demonstrated daily that his teacher coworkers were subpar...

Tiff Macklem, the Governor of the Bank of Canada, told private business in August not to increase salaries as it would exacerbate the inflation situation.. Why are Public Sector Unions exempt from his recommendation?

Holy crap. I still remember Miss Newman from Grade 5. She was 24 at the time. She moved my desk from the back to the front row facing her desk. Her desk was on a raised platform so I had to look up to see between her legs.

Great, give your kids 24/7 access to youtube and start filling out the applications for med school.
Support workers making $39k are not the problem with our education system.

I guess working with kids with mental issues is a piece of cake.

BTW

Um, they do not get paid for March break and the only way they get paid for the summer is EI.

Do you get paid for Xmas and other stat holidays?? If not, you can come work for me, I pay stat holidays and I will even start you off with a 3 week vacay.
Didn't know janitors work with special needs...point taken but very few work with special needs...very few...

This is a problem with our system. The pipeline is enforced. The funnel encouraged... Think of how many bright and capable minds are bypassed? Why are they bypassed? Many reasons...

No they are not... They signed up for the Government job and are expecting the payday promised which cannot be delivered in these times. We do not have the money.

Don't get me wrong... I hate that our government hired a shit tonne of Parliament Assistants at high pay...

Regardless of party affiliation, we all must demand more.

Yes, an average of $39,000 sure sounds like a ton of money

Love when people like the OPre so eager to give their opinion on something when they don't even have the basic facts correct.
Based on 6/hrs a day and all holidays summers off plus benefits and a good pension ...I wouɔd say its pretty dam good for no education...FYI - I do have the facts straight from an EA so mayne you should do some homework

Just wondering what you mean exactly that you’re an employer of public sector employees? Because I don’t see why you would be involved with collective bargaining when it sounds like you’re not even a worker in the public sector?
he is a taxpayer & a Canadian citizen
public sector employees work for Canadian citizens

sadly you think it is the other way around
