After running into Espinal and Bichette at the Canadian Open, I thought loudly about something. Imagine what a monster Alejandro Kirk would become if he went on the Novak Djokovic Diet, Camila Giorgi would jump his sleek bones.

A buddy of mine who was a hitting coach at A-ball says that Kirk's massive belly provides a counterweight to his upper torso when he swings and gives him additional bat control. If he was slender, he probably couldn't hit at the major league level.

Jays deserved the win again today........Great catch by Judge though off of Bichette.

Tomorrow it's Manoah going against Cortes.

Funny thing is both pitchers are venturing into total innings pitched limits if they aren't there right now.

Anyways Cortes is an extremely fast paced pitcher. His games usually don't last long. He's a crafty left hander who's found his niche after bouncing around a bit. A former 36th round draft pick. I wonder how many have made it to the majors after being selected that late?

It will interesting watching the Jays righty power hitters try to be patient at the dish.

I would think he would be a nightmare for the much maligned on here Bo Bichette. Let's see....

Oh and I hope Hernandez is okay after fouling that one off the top of his foot. He's a favourite of mine. Always smiling....

Winnable game, but 3/4 is still good.

Manoah on Gerrit Cole: "If Geritt wants to do something, he can walk past the "Audi" sign" next time" LOL

Manoah would pulverize him!

Manoah vs Da Judge would be like two Mastodons going at it. Gerrit Cole would be Jeff Van Gundy.

Tale of tape:

Judge 6'7", 282 lbs

Manoah 6'6", 285 lbs

Boxing: Judge would win by points , he's got longer arms, would stick his jab in Manoah's face all fight long, keeping him at bay.

MMA : Manoah would win , he's a stocky 285lbs with a lower centre of gravity and would impose his body mass on Judge and take him to ground and win by a rear naked choke hold

Jays won a close one today. A playoff style game in many ways. Berrios got better as game went on. Bass's two outs with runners on 2nd and 3rd were huge. Springer delivers when he's in the lineup. Fun to watch.

Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention Kirk's 2 infield hits. He's got 13 so far this season and he's one of the slowest runners in the league. Just makes the Kirk story even more interesting.

A check with the naked eye tells me one guy is a jacked specimen and the other is obese.

I'll take the in shape guy wherever the fight goes.

Matt Chapman is the best defensive 3rd baseman in the league, and it’s not even really close. Barring injury, pencil him in for 35-40 homers. Now if Biggio can return to form, the Jays infield will be dynamite. And Espinal can be the super utility backup at 3rd, 2nd and short.
How much fun is it watching Chappie play 3rd? He has saved the Jays bacon many times this year. The best in the league, only Arenado can touch him.

Very special defensive player. Huge play at a critical moment in tonight's game. Saw a bit of everything today.

Totally agree - this guy is the Carey Price of baseball - so calm, so effortless - amazing Great win tonight!

He's been taking much crap from this thread, it looks like Bo Bo Brazil has perfected his swing...it couldn't come at a better time.

Last season Bo was very productive but his swing made me wince. He was putting his lower back under pressure generating torque. Dante was right, had he kept that swing he would be on the IR. Currently he looks like Joey Boom Bats with the leg lift to generate momentum and using his shoulder blades to drive the ball. Bo Bo will have something to say the rest of the season.

Oracle is incorrect Alek Manoah is not obese, he's been boned. Aaron Judge is six years older than Manoah, his weight management skills are more advanced. Eventually Manoah will slim down, probably to 265.

What would a fight between Manoah and Da Judge look like?

Okay, so Bobofette's bat is coming around, but he sucks defensively, another error last night.

Jay's next 9 games are against sub .500 teams, Angels,, Cubs and Pirates.

Not only are they sub .500 teams, they are way below .500.
Angels 52-73
Cubs 54-71
Pirates 47-77
Anything worse than 6-3 would be unacceptable. This is an opportunity to close ground on the Yankees. If we can get it to within 5 games back by end of this month we have a legit shot at the division title.

His error on a routine play could/should have been costly. A bullpen miracle saved the day. I really though his defense would improve but I am not seeing it yet. His range looks to be only average.
