It's about time for these old news anchors step aside and let the younger, more talented, relevant news readers take their places. They should let a bunch cycle through the role instead of seeing the same face year in, year out. Say switch it up every 3 months or something. It will stop the sense of entitlement many if these broadcasters suffer from.

LaFlamme just feels entitled to keep her high paying part time job.
Do you have a special hard on for broadcasters? Maybe this same approach should apply to all jobs? Forget ageism; just toss them before they reach their best before date! Who needs anyone with more than 3 months experience! Geeshh...

Hopefully Adrienne Arsenault will be next. Getting tired of seeing her tired face with bags under eyes when flipping channels.

When in the public eye, higher standards need to be maintained.

A post I came across over on the broadcasting board, copied and pasted:

This decision was actually made at the end of June, so Lisa has been sitting on this news for like the last month and a half. The same thing happened with Global Montreal's lead news anchor Jamie Orchard, but she at least got to say goodbye on air.

This has got to be one of the dumbest moves CTV News and Bell Media have ever committed.
maybe she is getting what she deserves.

She was complicit in destroying Patrick Brown’s career with false sexual misconduct allegations. Which helped deliver Doug Ford. She was named in Browns Libel suit against CTVNews. Karma’s a bitch.
She just read the news, has nothing do with her.
Patrick Brown like literally the worst mayor in Brampton

Patrick Brown owned a few bars in Barrie when I was 17 I got served in bars with my college friends its really not a big deal she was an adult if she was a minor that be different but 18 going on 19 majority of 18 year olds have had booze
Our laws in MANY cases are flawed. You are too young to have a beer BUT you can join the military at 17 and die for your country!!

Same old story - now that the onion is being peeled back, the person in question is being revealed to be a big-time diva 'be-atch' towards everyone around her outside of her immediate personal circle of sycophants.

Anything juicy like sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, sexual assault, unwanted touching, etc. , etc.?

More details are out in a Globe & Mail story: Apparently Bell/CTV offered her a chance to wind down and say goodbye, but she chose not to do so. She also had two years left on her contract. The story goes on to mention that Michael Melling, the VP News, was a penny pincher, and that LaFlamme pushed back on his cheapness on two occasions. One was on the coverage in Ukraine (she wanted them to reserve hotel rooms in Poland in case the field crew needed to evacuate quickly), and the second was coverage of the Queen's Jubilee, where Melling didn't want any one doing coverage in London, all from Toronto.

The story also mentions Melling was questioning who allowed LaFlamme to let her hair go naturally grey. Which, to be honest, was gutsy on her part (and I respect her for doing it). So, there is a mix of ageism and sexism in this story, as most of us suspected.

So, my take: Melling is only the VP of News. To make a move like this would require the president's approval, and it probably came down from the top. Melling might have had the idea first, but would need executive sign off, maybe even from the head of CTV/Bell Media. It is a HUGE move to axe your main anchor in this fashion. Then they compounded it by naming Omar, and forcing local affiliates to do a talk back with him on that day. PLUS!!! He was forced to tweet about getting the new job. They basically put the poor bastard into a no-win situation.

See, here's the thing: I know people who worked in that newsroom, and they doubt the talk about the "mean girls" attitude she had with the senior producer. From what I hear, she was demanding in the sense that things were as near perfect as possible when she went on-air. And I don't blame her. If there are any mistakes, she's the public face of them. I've also heard she acted as a mentor to young journalists and was always encouraging. I read the Brian Lilley article in the Sun a few days ago, and I think a lot of the talk about "toxic" behaviour just sounded wrong and misogynistic.

Lisa deserves to be let go. She is never there. taking all kinds of time off except for expensive overseas trips such as
to Warsaw, Poland. Omar, on the other hand, is always around doing Lisa's reporting. She only works 4 nights a week at the
most. I am happy to see her gone. Let the honest, hard worker Omar carry the torch going forward.

Has anybody stopped listening or watching Bell media? Or any corporate media for that matter.

I have. Hated Bell long before this though.
