She was complicit in destroying Patrick Brown’s career with false sexual misconduct allegations. Which helped deliver Doug Ford. She was named in Browns Libel suit against CTVNews. Karma’s a bitch.
Patrick Brown in fact gave an 18 yr old alcohol. That is illegal. Every guy ever has sworn “She told me she was old enough”…. That does not work for non politicians, should not have worked for Patrick.

My thoughts on Laflamme…

Bell is evil. They have realized the listening audience is not very sophisticated, or anchor loyal, and will watch or listen to just about anybody they put in the chair. Why pay big bucks when you can go dirt cheap.

One year Bell cleaned house the day after “let’s talk” day and fired a large group of employees on a conference call.

They have been doing this shit for years. They are pure evil.

However…. Why is Lisa concerned now. Cause it happened to her? Did she speak up when countless people before her got fired for the simple offence of being loyal to the company, and earning a good living?

I stopped listening to all Bell Media when they fired Ryan Doyle. I know my personal boycott does Jack shit to their bottom line, buts it’s principle.

Side note…. They cleaned house at 97.7 Htz fm (my local station) and replaced everyone in a years time. Evil.

Next up: AI newscasters. I am amazed that Bell hasn't done this already.....

Maybe they are scared that an AI newscaster would end up like Max Headroom????

They are afraid that if an AI news caster works, so will an AI CEO

They are saying CGI and AI actors will eventually replace real Hollywood actors.
The studios would save a lot of money by doing that

Bell has a long history of cutting jobs at various points in the year. Some friends I know used to work at CTV News Channel and, like clock work, they would cut jobs in either October or November. Wouldn't matter if the company was making money. Management had to trim costs by a certain percent every year. So, one year it would be a solid reporter or part-time anchor, plus a bunch of production staff (writers, video editors, producers).

For them to cut LaFlamme is shocking. She was a very respected journalist, was great at her job, and is under 60. It raises all sorts of questions about misogyny, sexism and ageism. I remember Lloyd Robertson's final years. The man was over the hill and half way to bed, yet they let him have his farewell tour and final broadcast. Peter Mansbridge got the same treatment, with the CBC treating his final newscast like it was a major deal. LaFlamme gets axed and is told not to tell anyone....

For a company that prides itself on being a communications giant....they sure as fuck don't know how to handle something like this....

I believe she talks too slow for the new gen. I'm sure she's well looked after money wise. As long as they don't alienate their baby boomer population.

Since this is a thread about fired anchors, does anybody remember Ken Shaw?

That was just a polite way to ease his way out of the chair. When you're gone, you're gone. I've seen it so many times in corporate life. BTW: Where is Ken Shaw now? Does anyone actually care? Same will happen to Lisa.

I agree. Not the end of the world. I have been drunk at 16.

But… he is was a Bar owner who served people who were not of age and took them home for sex. It was a legit story.

Now… That story, does not phase me. Not in the least. Worse things have been done by better people.

What does bother me about Patrick Brown, is his corruption. We had a massive ethics problem here in our regional council in Niagara… and several of those people were associated with Rick Dykstra… who is associated with Patrick Brown. Then The city of Brampton hired those people from Niagara… and Barrie has had its own hiring scandals.

Brown is dirty.

Now…. Who in politics isn’t dirty you could argue. You’d be right.

If I am not mistaken…. They did a mass firing the day after “Let’s Talk” day last year. That’s when Dave McKey and Jon Pole got sent packing via a mass conference call with many others from Am1010 and CTV.

Knowing what I know of the industry, the odds they were let go in a conference call are virtually nil. That would be a lawsuit. These types of dismissals are done in such a way that they are private, where it is a manager and HR weenie in a room giving you the "package," which can be negotiated a bit. Plus, they don't want to anger/upset those who are still there, especially if they could still go on-air and light up management. The conference call likely happened afterwards, where management gives some bullshit reasoning while telling everyone else that their jobs are safe....for now....

Jon Pole does a podcast. The Pole Position. Episode 1… he described it. He could not believe how unprofessional it was.

Here… I took 30 seconds and dug it up.
