Of course his PR team wrote this, and the lawyers went through it as well to ensure they didn't open themselves up to a lawsuit....which we all know is coming....

I wonder how much the outage cost the economy. We know that many SPs were unable to book or confirm appointments. Then there is the large economy. How many Uber drivers or DoorDash workers couldn't work? Or the thousands of other businesses that used Rogers for the telephone/internet. We're talking about a billion bucks maybe? And Rogers is only going to discount your bill for one day, which could be like $3 bucks for more cell phone users....

I wonder if anyone died because they couldn't call 9/11???
Rogers needs to pay for the damage that they cause, not give you a refund on what you paid.

If you kill somebody with your car because the manufacturer installed faulty brakes, they are liable for the death. Refunding you for new brakes is not an option.

For home internet I used Telcan
I don't used TV services .
I just used a android box for my tv
I think they probably are what's called a last-mile connector, which means they buy bulk service from Bell, Rogers of Cogeco....So, you may not be avoiding one of the telecom giants...

The reality is that all three (Rogers, Telus, Bell) suck in their own way. I have a deep dislike of Bell, and Rogers was fairly good. But having a massive outage like this twice in 15 months is bonkers. They are going to lose billions for this stupidity.

I hope they publish the details of their investigation, or that the CRTC holds their feet to the fire to find out what the fuck happened. If it happened after maintenance and an update, like they claimed last time, then how the fuck did they allow this to happen again - and actually be worse since it knocked out cable, internet and cell service...

Nothing bad will happen to Rogers. They’ll keep doing business and making money and treating its customers like shit.
This is all reminiscent of the 2008 bailout of Wallstreet. A lot of big talk and bull shit apologies, but then shady deals behind closed doors.

In the future, telcos will likely have to provide free roaming access to their networks if one of the others go down. That won't address the WiFi issue, but at least people will be able to make emergency phone calls
