The funny thing about that is it didn't work for the Rangers because they spent money poorly......but who wouldn't want to watch the New York Rangers win the Stanley Cup 9 out of every 10 years in a six team league?
Glam's argument to scrap the salary cap can be summarized as:
"How the fuck can we expect Dubas to compete with the other 31 G.M.'s when he has to play by the same rules as they do? It's not a fair fight."
I don't give a shit about Winnipeg and Ottawa either but saving small market franchises is why they do it...Works for me.
Smells of desperation. Also, there is a Sault St. Marie connection between Murray and Dubious.(Dubas). Murray was the Greyhounds goalie in 2013 when Keefe and Dubious were running it.Apparently the Leafs and Senators are in talks for goaltender Matt Murray. Not sure what I think of this. Murray looked awful in Ottawa

Maple Leafs, Senators continue 'intensified discussions' about goaltender Matt Murray
The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to have "intensified discussions" with the Ottawa Senators regarding goaltender Matt Murray, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Sunday.www.sportsnet.ca
I wish my school grades were that good.I keep hearing how great Murray has been in the playoffs but here are his save percentages the past three seasons
.906
.893
.899
Wasn't aware of the Soo connection. I have to say I'd much prefer acquiring Kuemper, Fleury or Gibson.
I agree, but I think the Leafs are hoping that by pursuing Murray, they can work a deal where Ottawa retains a good chunk of salary. If they pursue other UFAs or trades, that option may not be available to them, and they're still in a major money pinch. Every contract dollar they take on matters.Smells of desperation.
True. I think Murray's contract is fairly manageable for 2 years, relative to the other goalies available. Rumour has it Soupy(Campbell) is looking for 5 years/$25 million.. Most likely landing spot: Edmonton.I agree, but I think the Leafs are hoping that by pursuing Murray, they can work a deal where Ottawa retains a good chunk of salary. This trade could make Dubas a genius or be his end in Toronto.Welcome Matt Murray, Sens will retain 25% and also are tossing in a few draft picks. Toronto will send future considerations.

No worries, he only played 20 games last year.
....then next year Dubas will package his contract together with our first round draft choice and give it to someone else, and Leafs fans will hail Dubas as a genius for only using a first round pick to dump a problematic contract.
Mrazek 2.0. Rinse, repeat.
If this is the Leafs trying to tank, then the Chicago Blackhawks are making them look like amateurs.Leafs are tanking for Connor Bedard. They won't be trading that 1st round pick.
Easier to do if you have to play Tampa, Florida, Boston, most of the year.If this is the Leafs trying to tank, then the Chicago Blackhawks are making them look like amateurs.
That's nonsense.Easier to do if you have to play Tampa, Florida, Boston, most of the year.
Matt Murray made it easier. That's nonsense.
Yours would be a typical Toronto view, but Minnesota and St. Louis were roughly equivalent to the Leafs and Tampa in points this year:
- Tampa 110 - St. Louis 109
- Leafs 115 - Minnesota 113
Plus if you remember Colorado (119 points) won the cup and appeared superior to Tampa in every way except goaltending. Divisional rivals have to play each other more often.
I know Leaf fans are constantly whining about playing in "the toughest division" but no one outside of Toronto buys that.
