Thanks for clarifying. So it is on the border.Square Victoria is at the limit of downtown and old Montreal. But it's not part of Old Montreal delimitation.
No Moishes did not had smoked meat.I think the new menu will. Thanks for clarifying. So it is on the border.
Did Moishes have smoked meat? I only ever tried their steaks. Good but found them rather pricey.
For smoked meat, I always went to Bens (just down the street from McGill).

That explains why I never had smoked meat at Moishes. LOL!
But Bens is closed since many years.
I guess they miss my business after I left Montreal and decide to close. LOL!
Shwartz is good. But honestly the best is Smoked Pete in Ile Perrot. But that is far out. Downtown Reubens on st-catherine is great.
But i need to be honest i prefer a new york pastrami sandwich than a montreal smoked meat
Yes good smoked meat is not confined to Montreal Island. Several communities in Quebec have good spots. If looking for a good cluster of smoke meat restaurants consider the picturesque town of St-Sauveur in the lower Laurentian mountains about 60 km north of Montreal. Off the top my faves are Lou Smoked Meat, Moe's and La Fabrique. No Moishes did not had smoked meat.I think the new menu will.

Some people are notorious for going and/or maintaining off topic discussions, They look at it as a green light to go further and further astray. So I am curious - how is a conversation of where to get the best smoked meat in Montreal in anyway related to honoring the memory of Guy Lafleur?
How about starting a new thread in the terb travelogue and restaurant review forum if you want to continue your fascinating discussion of the Montreal (and now surrounding area) smoked meat sandwich scene.
