A squeaker in a shootout. Good to get the win. Not much to like about how they got there.

Or maybe, like any really good GM, he looks at his team and is perpetually unsatisfied until he has a roster that actually wins a cup. His full time job is to be constantly looking at his team with a critical eye to assess 'Good enough, or no?' If the answer is 'good enough', I guess what he's saying is 'We're going with the horses we have.' If not, he's ALWAYS looking around seeing what he can do to make the team better.

I simply asked if anyone wanted to speculate on weather or not Dubas is looking now, or if he thinks he needs more time to determine if he actually needs to or not.

As a non leaf fan but appreciator of talent, I believe this team is set.

Why mess with a winning combination.

There's not too may teams with the potential fire power that they have.

They're just an exciting team to watch. Hopefully there will a full house to see their drive for the holly grail in the near future.

I'd tend to agree. Unless there looks like there could be a solid, well-seasoned d-man who's a pending UFA that could be had cheap as a playoff rental for insurance purposes (e.g. Marc Staal DET) I don't see the Leafs making any crazy moves at this point. A) they don't have much cash to spend under the cap B) doubt they want to give up draft picks now knowing where the team is heading in future years

I agree with Dubas's mindset as expressed in the article. March 21 is the trade deadline and he will assess from now until then, these games will get cranked up. I'm still leery of depth, playoff hockey takes a big toll.

Leafs re-acquire Adam Brooks from Vegas off waivers, send Liljegren to the Marlies to make space. Nick Ritchie can't be around much longer in a Leafs uniform.

Bunting has more points than Hyman...just saying...they've recovered quite well from Hyman leaving for big dollars.

To think how the Oilers would've been better off had they just spent money signing our goalie instead of our winger.

Great win for the Leafs last night against a real contender. PIT came out flat and the Leafs came out flying and never really let up the whole game. PIT never got on track and turned the puck over so many times it became a real joke. Reilly and Mikheyev really had strong games, as did Campbell. Willy was invisible in this one (looked like he might be nursing an injury of some sort?), as was most of the PIT team aside from Carter and Jarry who kept the game from becoming a Toronto blowout. Bunting also had a very strong game. Wondering how many teeth AM lost when he unhinged the net with his face? Maybe Marner's dentist can help him out a tad...he's been busy this season.

Nick Leddy in Detroit as a rental for Travis Dermott and some odds/sods? I'd make that deal to bolster the Leafs defense this playoffs. Might even make sense financially next season.

Leafs have dropped three in a row. Next three opportunities to turn the ship are MIN, DET and WASH.

BTW - When will guys like Nylander, Tavares, and Kerfoot start to get hot?

Right now, Nylander has 6 goals over the last 20 games, and Tavares 4 goals over the same period. Kerfoot has 3. By contrast, the rookie Bunting has 10G in the last 20 games.

With Muzzin now all but certain to land on LTIR for the balance of the season (where he can get a good rest for the playoffs push), wonder who goes out the trade door first - Justin Holl, Pierre Engvall, or Travis Dermott?

After the win in Detroit exposed some glaring inadequacies, can the Leafs really afford not to be very active players at the trade deadline? Without a serious upgrade in goal and on D, this team is clearly not going to be able to beat either FLA or TB in the first round of the playoffs. Is Fleury to TOR perhaps the answer?

Right on schedule. Just like the Dallas Cowboys. Out first round of the playoffs. It's crazy how many leafs fans love disappointment.

I would love to see a local sportscaster blow up the Leafs nation like Steven A Smith destroys the Cowboy fans. What can go wrong will go wrong..

As if any fan loves disappointment. I'd say they probably would've done better last year if Tavares wasn't knocked out in the first round. Plus, Matthews wrist was so bad he couldn't even shoot the puck and had to have surgery after resting it for the entire summer.

They're currently 4 points out of 1st. place in the Eastern Conference. Playoffs are always an entirely different animal and anything can happen, but they've got a good squad. I would still like to see a right handed, stay at home D added into the mix.
