I can so much relate.

Since the pandemic I now have 3 BBQ, a slow cooker, an air fryer and 4-5 new cookbooks (I really like Raichlen and Ramsey).

I learned how to smoke trout, salmon, ribs... next summer I try the brisket (I wanted some practice before buying a piece of meat as expansive as 1h with fabulous Kate of XO in Montreal ;) ).

I showed my kids how to do smash burgers with bigmac style sauce. They now prefer it to going to mcdonalds!

I also teach them how to do pizza. Cooked at 600 degree with minimal stuffing. Just home made tomato sauce, garlic, basil, burrata cheese and some mushroom.

I received 20 people last summer and made Korean 'tacos'. Huge success!

So yeah the pandemic really for me was a turning point that I can do better then a restaurant. At a much lower price.
Lame.

It’s not the way to live mate. Sheltering yourself from different social circles. It’s lame as fuck

But I enjoy hearing about you learning new skills and the enjoyment you experience there.

But if you balance that out. You’re on to something.

I do get your point and I agree. I did shelter way too much at first. And I took some decision that I so much regret today but that's how life is...

But listen never in my life would I ever received 20 guest and be confident enough that I can cook the whole thing before the pandemic. So that is positive.

Congrats to building your skills during the Covid restrictions. Most people just got fat, played too many video games and watched too much TV.

Now take those new skills and start to live your life again!

Covid has been interesting. And while I haven't lost a day of work nor a cent of income I discovered and rediscovered certain things due to shit being closed. I rediscovered Calvados- the French peasant brandy and I discovered that it goes very well, indeed, with my steak cooking ability- my waist line says I've been maybe too enthusiastic. I rediscovered the pleasure of Oriental massage parlors and the joys of laced joint.

Dude, having gone out a few times now its quite the opposite. The restaurant food is generic, poorly made and presented, overpriced and absolutely over salted.

I'd much rather join friends for dinner now at home. Cooking together is fun, cleanup is minimal when everyone pitches in, obe hella cheaper and thats with buying more expensive cuts and produce.

There are still a few things they do best for me. Sushi, pizza, cheap chinese(I stoll get occasional cravings....) and prime rib but thats about it.

Superbowl bill for 3 pints, one bourbon and a pound of wings was just south of Bucks. Could have done it at home for 20. And had a better meal.

So the OP wants the freedom of choice to not do something that makes her uncomfortable.
Perfect! She's come over the right side.

Looks like im gonna be dining in my house or families or friends ordering take out
or do bbqs

I dont want to eat my dinner with unvaccinated coughing and blowing up a storm in the restaurant
If there are many people like you, restaurants may impose their own vaccination policy to attract such people at the expense of the ones who do not want to show covid passport. If there is only a fringe minority of people who want it - you are out of luck.

No, she's accepting of that situation. It is what it is and this is how she'll deal with it, like an adult.

That is very different than the people against mandates who, instead of dealing with it, whine about them and demand that they get removed. That's whining. "Wha, wha, I don't like it. Screw the majority and change it just for me and the rest of my loud fringe minority." Child like and selfish approach. It's been selfish since day 1.
it s very different. Noone was complaining about people getting vaccinated or wearing masks - the complain was that others required them to do it. She complains that others are doing something (going to restaurants without vaccine)

I hear you. Basically Canadian culture where you stick to your homes and want to host and show it off. Im never short of an invite to someone’s dull oasis backyard or basement bar. Bore off. Lol.

I find it lame as fuck. I’d rather be out with energy and tits and ass to look at. I hate other peoples houses and prefer neutral ground.

Each to their own.

and I don’t expect an invite. 😀

So the OP wants the freedom of choice to not do something that makes her uncomfortable...
...and unlike people who don't want to get vaxxed is not increasing a risk to anyone else or potentially placing a burden on our healthcare system with her decision.

Not to defend drewstar too much but fascism is a very contested definition.
He's being ridiculous, yes, but it isn't like a casual look at the dictionary is going to be enough.
But in no definition includes someone independently choosing not to go to a restaurant as a political protest (not that Ford is the one impacted).
