I expect I'll get grief over this but... Elvis Presley is the most overhyped entertainer ever in my opinion.

Oh, he's not terrible. I really like some of his songs. But (again, in my opinion) he's nowhere near worthy of the God-like adoration he gets.

Pretty good entertainer. Nothing more.
The King only started the Rock 'n' Roll revolution and popularized and defined the style of music we know and love today.
Apart from that, no big deal lol.

Except he didn't start it. He definitely popularized it and defined the style. But the genre was stolen hook line and sinker from Black people. Elvis was a devoted fan of gospel and attended black churches for the love of black music. White people kind of cheaped out on giving any royalties to black musicians. Most of whom would have died in obscurity but for the Stones and other British acts who lifted them up somewhat.

I can agree when he was in his later years and Las Vegas venues, but when he started out he actually sang gospel music. He had a terrific voice singing songs such Peace in the Valley, That's alright mamma, Blue Moon, etc. He did play at Maple Leaf Gardens back in 1967 and my mother, (Bless her Heart) went to see him when she was in her 40s and fell in love with him.

You make some valid points but I said he started the rock revolution, not necessarily rock music itself.

I agree with you on his music, being good but he's more regaled as an entertainer than a really good singer...
Nothing wrong with his voice here.

I always thought Stevie Wonder was overrated.
Stevie Wonder dominated music and influenced generations of other musical artists (Michael Jackson among them) with 4 consecutive masterpieces, the latter 3 all winning Grammys for album of the year:

Talking Book
Innervisions--Album of the Year
Fulfillingness Full Finale
Songs in the Key of Life

25 Grammys overall (at a time when there were less categories)

Eddie, you may not like him, but I think you are among a small minority of people who think that he was overrated. It's sort of like how I consider Queen/Freddie Mercury overrated.

Elvis performed five times in Canada in 1957. He didn't have any live concerts from 1962-67, and he never performed live outside of the United States, with the exception of those five 1957 Canadian shows.

Mozart, Elvis, the Beatles, Jon Lajoie they are all over rated.

Music just hasn't been good since the Sumerian period. The last 4000 years have been musically speaking nothing but vomit and human feces.

Coldplay , never got the attraction
I do enjoy some rap / hip hop but it all sounds the same to me ! Highly overrated considering most of not all don’t play musical instruments,

My typo error, it was 1957. My fingers are too big for the small fonts on my tablet, plus too much wine.

Not so much overrated I guess, but he was never a favourite of mine.

Dave Morello… of Rage Against the Machine. I like him, like the band, but he gets treated like he’s top 10 of all time. He’s average at best. He does have style, and plays everything with a grove, and I think that’s what fools people. Nothing he plays is complicated.

Again… totally respect him as a good musician in some great bands. But he ain’t no guitar god.
