Alex and Neil are absolutely incredible. Everything about their abilities is almost unnatural.

Geddy ruined them and made the band unlistenable.
Ahhh… you wrote that review in 1978.

Let me start with a bang...

Pink Floyd...The Eagles...
While neither of these bands are currently considered one of my “favourites”, I definitely spent a HUGE CHUNK of age 16-35 high as fuck exploring many different discographies of artists. The thing about pink Floyd is that they basically put out an alarming number of consistently high-quality and creatively/artistically varied albums for like 13 straight years. After 1973 they adopted the “scarcity principle” and started waiting 2 years between albums, from 1967-1973 they put out Like 7 or 8 absolutely incredible albums. And a few more from 1973-1979. It’s one thing to BECOME successful in the music industry but it’s something else entirely to STAY successful in the business. The guys like Neil young young or pink Floyd or the grateful dead or even more obscure legends like Arthur brown end up achieving this kind of novelty/cliche status because they literally defined the tropes, built the archetypes, defined the sound and the attitude. I wouldn’t say the Beatles or the stones are overrated but I would say it’s incomprehensible to think that I could start a band and do what they did and I’m an accomplished musician lol
