"Acadia" was an early term for what are now Canada's maritime provinces. In my understanding, many French Acadians who were expelled ended up in another French colony at the time, Louisiana, and the term "Acadian" evolved into "Cajun". Interesting that a wonderful Cajun culture ( food, music etc.) evolved, at least in part, from those early French settlers in Canada.
And here's a song exactly about that by the Band.

It's not true that the Irish love to drink, fight and copulate. It is a myth perpetrated by liberals. Only the copulate part is true. LOL!

Historica Canada did a Heritage minute about that.

That video has to bring a tear to your eye.

Hockey star Patrice "Leaf Killer" Bergeron's full name is Patrice Bergeron-Cleary and represents both his French and Irish heritage.

I met many of the descendants of those Irish orphans when I lived in Quebec. The Johnson name lives on in Quebec.

Their goalie was Terry Sawchuk, a Ukrainian from Winnipeg. Known to be the most miserable prick in hockey.
Can't mention Sawchuk without also mentioning Glenn Hall (now 90). It's amazing that the Red Wings had both Sawchuk and Hall in their system at the same time. What's also amazing is that the Black Hawks acquired two HOF goalies (Hall and Esposito) who were developed in another team's system.

"After finishing his junior years playing for the Humboldt Indians and the Windsor Spitfires, he signed with the Detroit Red Wings in 1949. The first few years of his NHL career were spent playing in Detroit's minor system. In the 1952 playoffs he was called up from the minors to be the backup goalie in the finals, but did not play for Detroit. Detroit still put Hall's name on the Stanley Cup, before he had ever played his first NHL game. He finally made the Red Wings' lineup as their starting goalie in the 1955–56 season, displacing Terry Sawchuk"

Yes you can see a little mix in her features. A true Danish female is quite more fair skinned, blonder? hair and lighter blue eyes. Very similar to my Danish daughter-in-law who just had dinner with us this evening.

Yes, but who is this 4th group American1? Are these people that are descendants of the Mayflower? Or people that have intermarried so much that they don't know where the hell they've come from? Or what we call First Nations?

Regarding rednecks...it appears to have come from Bolshevism and the Appalachian Mine strikers who wore red bandanas. I first heard that in a Michael Moore flic of 2016 in which he also predicted a Trump win in the upcoming 2016 election as the last gasp of White is Right America. I was skeptical of both then but I know better now.

The changing demographics are having an effect on American and Canadian politics. The American Democrats are running candidates based on the fact that they look like their electorate and not on their competence. Meanwhile, Harris, AOC and Omar are disasters.

In Canada the Greens chose a leader who ticked all the boxes and then they fired her. The Liberals picked a candidate in Spadina-Fort York and then they kicked him out of the party. Plus, the liberals are accepting only female candidates in some ridings.

I am not the person to ask as my parents both being Ukrainian but born in Canada moved to Toronto when I was very young and were the first of their many siblings to do so. They basically spoke English at home. I learned Ukrainian by visiting my grandparents, aunts and uncles in Sask. many times and my mother sent me to Ukrainian school in Toronto on weekends which I hated. The languages are both Slavic but different but many words are similar . I read that Ukrainian and Russian were more similar.

No problem. I was just curious. That Ukrainian/Polish girl/woman I met many many years ago would switch to a foreign language when it was obvious she was pissed at something. I never understood a word she said (which might have been a good thing, LOL).

Now, did I ever tell you about the Italian woman?
