In a fit of bordom I went to see the Eternals movie. I expected it to be a pile of shit. The length and the commercials made it seem like it would be a slow moving mess but it was fine. I also also expecting non stop gay sex but alas those reports were over done also thankfully because no homo.
I went to buy my ticket and blanked on the name, so I just asked for a ticket for the cancer movie and the girl at the counter knew which one I met. The highlight of movie night.
If you ignore the stupid shit it was OK.

Every time the deaf chick was signing I was thinking why the fuck. You have a race of uber beings, who can send people through space and they have a healer. Why the fuck is she mute and deaf. Then you find out they were basically robots. Why the fuck make a deaf and mute robot. Oh yeah woke bullshit. I don't know if it's in the comics but it's some special needs stuff there.
The ghey, why is he ghey. Again, engineered robots designed to do a mission where they are not supposed to get involved with the locals as that could [and does] compromise the mission. Why do any of them have a sexual orientation... but I guess they need to have the ghey... also the extra drama of love interests. What's next, gay terminator. Give me your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle, they look fabulous you sexy beast?
The Hiroshima shit was an ignorant slap in the face. 1: He knew the bomb was going to kill a bunch of people. 2: He would be fully aware that the Japanese were not only dicks [Rape of Nanking] and also the Battle of Okinawa was roughly as lethal as one A bomb attack in terms of either military or civilian deaths separately, a landing would have be much more brutal than any A bomb. Also 1000 bomber raids also routinely flattened cities racking up similar body counts https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Tokyo_(10_March_1945) but hey I get it, everything the west does if automatically bad, double plus so if it's against a non white nation.
But it was still a pretty OK movie.

With so many fake martyrs like Rose McGowan, Asia Argento and Gwyneth Paltrow polluting the air lets show some respect to Kirsten Dunst.
She's worked very hard to build her career, at the peak of her powers she's retiring. She has said in the past that she's bi-polar, I'm hoping this isn't the reason. She now has a child as well, if she just wants to be a mother more power to her.

So the front runners for Best Actress are Kirsten Dunst for Power of the Dog, Nicole Kidman for Meet the Riccardo's, and the spoiled brat for Spencer. I don't care how powerful Kristen Stewart's family is, if the Oscar goes to her, the process will have lost all dignity.
Kirsten Dunst's work in Power of the Dog is extraordinary but the film belongs to Kodi Smit-McPhee making the transition to adult films effortlessly. He was Viggo Mortensen's son in The Road.

I just finished watching it this morning.
Afterwards, I read a discussion of the ending. It seems that nobody, including me, fully gets the ending the first time they watch it.
According to my Spockian logic, the ending made perfect sense to me. Young Mr Gordon is studying to be a surgeon, the 1920's is when the field of virology started to open up. He found a dead cow, naturally he's going to investigate what killed it.

I'm a pretty logical guy as well I was a bit baffled. At first when Phil woke up, I thought that he was hung over from drinking the night before.

I checked the audience score for Licorice Pizza, 8.5/10, that's almost unheard of. Is this the film that finally gets Paul Thomas Anderson a Best Picture Oscar?

Disney has the hype machine at full throttle for the latest Spiderman. Alfred Molina is back as Dr. Oc, he made Spiderman 2 great.
The problem here is Marvel is a spent force. The last Spiderman film was boring as fuck and Avengers: End Game was insipidly stupid. They'll have no choice but to smell what The Rock is cookin once DC's Black Adam comes out.
