The Jays will probably get outbid for Semien and Ray by a big-market club.

I hope I'm wrong though. We shall see
Probably by the Yankees FFS!!!!

They should go in on Ray. How often do you get the chance of a Legit All Star / Cy Young quality stud #1?!

Ryu finished with an ERA well above 4.00. That's shaky "bottom of the rotation" figures. He might be done.

Semien just turned 31 and Robbie Ray just turned 30.
So they should have at least 3 to 5 good years left.
My guess is Dodgers, Yankees or ChiSox will offer either player a 5-year/$25-30 mill contract.
Can (or will) the Jays match that?? I dunno, I can see maybe 1 of the 2 but probably not both

There’s also the Angels. With Ohtani saying he wants to win, they will be desperate to add a bat at shortstop, and a starting pitcher as well.

I've always loved Jose.
I don't understand all the animosity towards him. The bat flip controversy is beyond childish.
Joey may not want to do any goodwill tours of Texas in the next while. OTOH he can probably get his drinks paid for in any sports bar in Canada.

There must also be some pressure to give Trout a championship - or a post season appearance, at least! - and compete with the Dodgers.

Plus Albert Pujols' $30 Million/year contract has expired.

They should try to re-sign Ray and let Semien walk. I don't expect Semien to duplicate his offensive numbers next year, other than batting average. 30 is 'young' for a left-handed power pitcher; 31 is 'getting old' for a non-Hispanic middle infielder. The Jays will get high compensation draft picks next June if they lose either or both.

Rogers has deep pockets. One of the, if not THE richest owners.

Sign the guys we need and it will pay off tenfold in revenues. The country is absolutely CRAZY for this team.

Ray is 30 and has never pitched 200 innings in his career. His career era is 4.

Basically he's had one outstanding year and one good one in his career.

He's the typical guy that the Yankees historically over pay for but not sure that Cashman will go down that road.

Lately they have been into reclamation projects like Kluber and Taillon.

The other thing with Ray is what is when he loses a few clicks on his fastball? Which usually is a given with pitchers over 30.

Although better this year he's never been known as a control guy. But like I said before maybe he and Pete Walker clicked and he wants to be here.

How much are Bichette and Guerrero going to cost when their paydays come in?

Is this team heading for a cost crunch?

Marcus Semien is from San Francisco. The Dodgers could certainly plug him in quite easily at second base.

That seems like a natural fit too me. But he might still want to go ,back to short.

Marcus Semien should consider his options carefully, remember what happened when Edwin Encarnacion thought he could get more elsewhere.

I like Semien but the question is can Biggio produce almost as well when he is healthy and Espinal continue to play well? If so, we can lose Marcus hopefully out of the division.

By the way, the worst loss of the year was when Semien threw the final out away against Detroit. Several other bullpen contenders. They should over pay Ray but only for 3 years.

Ray will want 5 - 7 years for sure.

Biggio has a low average and low power #'s. His talent is the best eye in the Majors for drawing walks. Guy is uncanny that way. But it won't drive in runs.

I heard an interview a few days ago where he mentioned, just in passing as opposed to emphasizing, that he still considers himself a shortstop.

Even without Semien, Jays should have the best offence in MLB next year. They had 4 100 RBI guys this year. Even without Semien, they could have 5 next year with Springer and Gurriel.

Looking at the Tampa, Bosox and Yankees lineups over the weekend, their batting orders are all far weaker than the Jays.

...under different ownership and management. Not sure if the current group has the same mentality.
Not sure either....Tampa has a lot of owners rethinking how to approach things. Mariners as well I figure.

And rightfully so. Hal Steinbrenner has said publicly many times that doesn't believe in the spending ways of the teams past.

But the Yankees are still 2nd overall at 203 mil.....See the Jays are 11th at 150 mil.

You did say that the Jays ownership has deep pockets. This off season we are about to find out just how deep.

Biggio has not lived up to expectations, I see Ray signing with the Yankees. The Jays need to extend Bo and Vladdy now to buy up some of their free agent years like the Braves did with Acuna and Albies.
