And just like that Rafeal Devers ends the Jays season with a monster shot to dead centre.

As a Yankee fan I would rather play the Bosox. Nothing like that rivalry for us and the big apple.

Yankees are banged up. LeMahieu is out with a hernia and Urshela took a major tumble into the Rays bench to catch a pop fly in foul territory. Sanchez plays like he's hurt even when he's not and Odor is almost an automatic out now. Cole is going to have to go back to the spider tack and increase his spin rate, lol. Looks like Evoldi is going for the Sox tomorrow. We lit him up last time out so I'm hoping he's got nothing left in the tank.

Funny thing is I believe the Jays have the best team between the three. The first half of the season they lost a lot of games they should have won. That batting lineup's prowess might never be seen in Toronto again. Semien is 31 and will want to cash in with a long term contract. Can't see Shapiro doing that but I guess it will come down to what other offers he gets. Athletically most middle infielders drop off around the age he is right now. So signing him until he is 35 or 36 I'm not to sure of. Mu guess is that Espinal is playing third next year and Biggio is at second. Colour Ray gone. Unless he just wants to remain with Pete Walker and the bright upside the Jays offer. But some team out there will over pay for him you watch. Maybe the Yankees. They could use a left handed power arm in the starting rotation. Fun stat. Ray was a 12th selection 356th overall in 2010.

To the Jays fans on here. Your team nucleus is young and outstanding. Hopefully with greater attendance allowed next year the excitement that this team inspires will be even greater. I trust Shapiro and Atkins to continue to make the right decisions to bring a championship to Toronto. Keep believin.....

Shitty way to end an inspiring season. Fucking Nationals totally screwed the pooch this weekend.

Man, all those games blown by Dolis and Chatwood really sting now.

Definitely the most talented of the 3 WC contenders. Just a glance down the lineup card proves that. And a year more experienced and confident next year.

Semien is probably not worth the big $$$. Great player and great to have on the team; but next year, they'll have a healthy Springer and possibly a more consistent Gurriel and resurgent Grichuk - unless they deal RG. Espinal is the 3B of the future. Valera factors in somewhere. And there's Biggio. An embarrassment of riches.

Look for the Jays to unseat TB next year.

Ray is more complex ? - Is he worth overpaying for? A genuine Cy Young quality arm is almost beyond price. Ryu looked a shaky #1 this year - until he wasn't the #1 any more. Or even the #3. OTOH - Manoah and Berrios look solid.

This was painful, but lots of strong points came from this year. I hope they focus on signing Robbie Tight Pants instead of Semien. Personally, I want to see a healthy Biggio at 2nd. He’s becoming the forgotten guy, and I feel like he totally has something to prove at this point. Prove that he belongs. A left handed HOF pedigree last name, might be a pleasant surprise

For a team that is getting very close to being a true contender, I'd rather have a guy who's been proven as opposed to a guy who needs to prove himself. If they can't sign Semien, I'd rather see them move Espinal to 2nd and get more of a classic power hitting 3rd baseman.

The only negative I see from this year was our bullpen. We lost many early games because of the bullpen. Thats it. Great season other than that. Until next year, looking forward to the Blue Jays 2022 thread.

Kevin Cash makes some questionable decisions. Last year in the World Series, it was pulling Blake Snell when he seemed to be in total control against the Dodgers. Yesterday, in the bottom of the ninth with the game tied at 0-0, one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Aaron Judge was due up. Most managers I believe would intentionally walk Judge to set up a double play which would get Tampa out of the inning unscathed. Instead he decided to pitch to him and he drove in the only run of the game. Thanks a whole hell of a lot, Kevin!😒

I agree actually. Once Richards and that sidearm guy came, that’s really when defined roles started setting in. And it was pretty questionable before the trade.

Who’s out there that they could get?

I still can’t believe it’s all over LOL

None of the usual suspects has been able to answer any of these three Blue Jays trivia questions. Click one of the links, if you can answer correctly:

Post #3,466 on page 174 of the trivia-o-rama thread in the lounge:

Five Corrects up for grabs:

Five players won one or more Cy Young Awards after playing for the Toronto Blue Jays, and five other players won one or more Cy Youngs after being traded from the Montreal Expos.

Name any, and exactly two per reply, of the ten, (not previously correctly identified by someone else) to get a Correct.
Post #2,692 on page 135 of the trivia-o-rama thread in The Lounge:

Name THE THREE former Toronto Blue Jays who played for twelve or more different Major League Baseball teams.
There are actually FOUR former Blue Jays who played for twelve or more Major League teams.

Post #2,674 on page 134 of the trivia-o-rama thread in The Lounge:

Name ALL FOUR of the former Toronto Blue Jays who did not play any minor league baseball prior to their Major League debut.

Giancarlo Stanton bats right behind Judge and they're both hot.

It's a defensible strategy to go after Judge and try for the strike out and then get the 3rd out any way you can against GCS.

Re 2022 -

Jays have 2 superstar OF's - Teo and Springer. They have 3 solid everyday quality OF's, who could play on any team in the majors - Gurriel, Dickerson and Grichuk. 2 of those latter 3 guys should get dealt. I'd like to keep Gurriel because of the arm and because his bat is explosive and I think his offence can rise to superstar levels.

Is Tulowitzki still burning up $$$$$ out of payroll? (The worst deal the Jays made in the last decade IMHO.) If Tulo comes off the books, that's Robbie Ray's salary increase right there.

Jays have 3 young IF's who appear to be MLB standard everyday players - Valera, Biggio and Espinal. Presumably you're going to DH Alejandro Kirk some days, Vladdy others.

If they can't re-sign Semien, I think the offence is still formidable without him : healthy Springer,(45+ homers over an extrapolated full season based on this years stats- healthy Hernandez(35+ HRS extrapolated full season based on this years results)- Gurriel is a legit .300 hitter with HR power, he could hit 30+ Hrs, and that arm!
-Bo and Vladdy will get even better, Bo is capable of hitting 35+ hrs, Vladdy can hit 55+ Hrs.

-Espinal is a terrific infielder and appears to be a legit .300 hitter , move him to 2nd base and put Biggio at third, I give him benefit of doubt as he had nagging injuries throughout the season, he's capable of 30 Hrs.

Mcgwire is useless, get rid of him, KIrk can be a .300 hitter with that level swing, he just needs the at bats and Jansen has HR power.

Trivia: What does Vladdy write in the dirt with his bat before every at bat?

I remember the Blue Jays Caravan to Saskatchewan in early January. Joey never once complained about the weather, he was really into promoting the Jays in Western Canada. He generated quite a following while in Saskatoon, I've always respected him for that.

I've always loved Jose.
I don't understand all the animosity towards him. The bat flip controversy is beyond childish.
