What a great day to have off from work. Watching Leylah win and make it to the semifinals at the U.S. Open, then watch the Jays put another hurt on the Yankees, and minutes later Felix wins over Alcaraz to also advance to the semifinals.
The Jays needed to take at least 3 out of 4 in this series, and tonight’s game with Garret Cole pitching looked like the tough one to get. Now they can go for a sweep, while the Covid-19 ravaged Red Sox are reeling. Could be in a wild card position in a couple of days and breathing down the Yankees necks.

2 games out now. Only thing worrisome is 6 games left with the Rays (3 away and 3 at home).
Maybe we'll get lucky and catch them in a slump.

Also Gerrit Cole out with hamstring injury

We haven't played TB since mid July, before coming back to Rogers Centre and trade deadline.
Jays are a different, better team now, Merryweather and Borucki back soon, I have faith they can win those 2 series.

Now Yankees fans will believe me.

Early in the season, I said signing Rougned Odor would be a curse against the Jays.

If Tampa is free and clear maybe they will sit guys and coast.
They're ethically not supposed to do that. But I can't believe that they will use up their best pitchers to play meaningless games when they have the playoffs to come.

TB is already so far ahead and Bosox and NYY so weak that the title is not really in doubt.

Jays play O's 4x and sub .500 Twins 7 times.

Bosox play 3 each w NYY, Marines and CWS.

Yanks play Jays 3x and Bosox 3x.

Schedule def. favours us - let see what happens - good see the bullpen come through big time last night, especially in the 7th (TR33) and 8th (AC90). Big time strike outs to end those inning.

Okay I'm one of those Yankee fans so how is Odor turning out to be bad for the Jays.

At this point he is just a bench player.

As for the game last night.....The best team won hands down.

Yankees relief pitching is tattered and torn at present. Chapman has control issues and is ineffective. On the Yankee forums when he comes in they call it the Chapman experience, lol. Britton is done for the season. Loaisiga who was there best pitcher this year behind Cole is out with rotator cuff inflammation and most likely done as well. Bottom line with starters usually being pulled after 5 or 6 innings these days the Yankees don't have the horses to hang on to leads or come from behind. Expect their fall to continue unless some lesser lights shine beyond their ability.

As for the Jays......Their run differential infers a much better team than their won loss record shows. And this team is finally emerging at the right time. The city of Toronto and Canada deserves a winner and I think they have one here..........I expect them to be there at the end of this race.

I forgot to add a coma Oracle, signing Odor would be bad for the Yankees against the Jays.
Okay got ya......You know watching Odor play I've seen a few things.

The good....He's decent second base defender ( But terrible at third). He's a great teammate. He has plus power.

The bad.....He's a dead pull hitter who strikes out too much and doesn't walk much. In the shift era that's a big concern. His OBP is abysmal.

So he's at best a bench player or a stop gap for most teams. At 27 his career is spiraling down.

He will always be remembered for that straight right that he landed on Joey Bats though......

He will actually be remembered for being smart enough and sneaky enough to gallop home when Russell M threw the baseball away in Game #5 of the 2015 ALDS and thus and thereby setting up the "Great 7th Inning Comeback" and "The Flip Hear Round the World".

I think he was also part of the Bootery in Game #3 of the 2016 ALDS when Texas lost in 3 straight. So he's a karmic figure to most Canadian ball fans - a metaphor for Retribution being visited upon the importunate.

Jays are hot but we should all know how quickly things can change in baseball. Yanks had won something like 13 in a row and were up 8 1/2 on a Jays team that suddenly couldn't hit with men on base (I think the Jays left 39 men on base last night in the 1st 5 innings like they did when they were cold). Immediately after, the Yankees have now gone 2-9, the Jays win 7 in a row and we are now only 1 1/2 behind. Jays have about 23 games left and anything can happen. The momentum could swing 180 degrees again. As well, Seattle and Oakland are still hot on our trail. They could end up being the two WC teams.

It's gonna be a crazy finish right to the end. But meaningful baseball deep into September is awesome but nerve wracking.

I'm beginning to think Andrew Heaney is a Blue Jay agent.........

Your Jays made my Yankees look like a AAA team this series.

I haven't seen them get dominated like that in a long long time.

Vladdy has got his second wind it appears and just at the right time. This team is healthy and firing on all cylinders.

The Orioles should be just like shooting ducks in a pond.

You paint a bleak picture Oracle. What do you think they will do in the offseason?

They need to strengthen themselves up the middle.

Sanchez is not the answer behind the plate. Gleber Torres has had two stinker seasons in a row at short. He's below league average for Christs sake. Aaron Hicks is constantly injured in centre, so they need an upgrade there as well.

Chapman minus the sticky stuff throws hard still but doesn't have any command or late break like he used to. Time to jettison him.
So many holes it's unreal. A 200 million dollar team should not get spanked the way they just did at home. That's just embarrassing as a Yankee fan. GM Brian Cashman has a lot of explaining to do. His job is in jeopardy this time around.

Imagine what Shapiro and Adkins could do with a payroll like New York has. They've done a wonderful job in Toronto if you ask me.

I was going to ask you about Cashman, but you were a step ahead of me. I have admiration for him because their past success wasn't only money driven, as most people assumed. They developed some talent in house.
