So there are actually a few types of privilege.

1. Race. Ie white privilege
2. Gender
3. Sexual orientation
4. Religious
5. Wealth
6. Gender Identity
7. Ability IE - abled body vrs disabled.
8. Not apart of the official list but adding attractiveness as well.

So if you are a heterosexual cis-white Christian wealthy man you have 6 types of privilege over others.

Do you believe this?

PS - poll is anonymous

I'd leave out the religious part of it but the rest absolutely. It opens doors. Although if you are a heterosexual wealthy articulate black man those doors are also open. I have several examples of this in my own inner circle. Then there is the picking up chicks in bars advantage which goes to the wealthy black man most of the time and I don't LIKE IT!!! LOL

So you don’t think that christians are looked at differently then Muslims. That a Christian family may have a better chance at a rental property for example over a Muslim family?

Not that I have to tell you but this is for debating purposes only. Not being accusing of anything

Yes, if it is clear of one's religion. I personally do not gravitate towards religious people of any religion if they wear their religion on their sleeve. I don't care what anyone does at home but don't bring it into my world regardless of your belief.

Most times anyone who is EI, they are assumed to be Muslim. Whether they are or not and whether they say so or not.

But I do agree. Keep your religion. Whatever that religion is.

Yes…Being a white male means I don’t have to put up with the racism and bigotry that others have to deal with. I still have problems and challenges in my life but thankfully racism is not one of them.
This is very true.

Where is the "Pretty" privilege on your list?
Attractiveness is a good one too. I was going based on an article I read years ago. It may have been updated. I never did look.

I won’t say “pretty” because that implies only women have this privilege but a good looking man does as well so I will say attractiveness.

Yes it exists. White people pretty much own everything and run everything.
Thats just the way it is.

But that doesnt mean other races can't be successful in spite of this.
Anyone can become rich and happy, its all about whatever you set your mind too.

Louis CK did a funny bit about this: https://criticalmediaproject.org/louis-ck-on-being-white-explicit/

Chris Rock said something to the effect that no matter how rich and successful he is, no white person would want to trade places with him.
Actually. I might. Talking of privilege, Black guys seem to have "carte blanche" as far as getting pussy.

The issue with privilege is that most people never recognize it for what it is. Me included. It wasn't until this started to be a talking point that I could recognize how lucky i was/am for being born in Canada as a white, straight male within a nuclear family. My name is "white" so I likely get the benefit of that when I'm on the phone or via email. Retailers are never suspicious of me when I shop, cops don't randomly pull me over for BS reasons. And I'm sure there are thousands of other micro-things that help or have helped me throughout my life.

I can believe that.

I can honestly say I would not want to be a black woman.

I was apart of the ”no” team for a while. I didn’t see it either. Not until that article that I can’t find and then it clicked. I feel like such an idiot for not seeing it sooner.

Then don't go to Gatineau with Ontario Plates. Pulled over twice in the space of 30 min. The reason given was tinted windows. The side windows in the back seat and the rear window are factory tinted and legal and the driver side windows are not tinted. All they could say was don't get front side windows tinted or you will get a ticket in QC.

I've experienced the white privilege. Once, when.I was swinging the shovel in 40°C, the foreman noticed that I was at the point of passing out. He said- here white boy- as he handed me a smaller shovel.

Absolutely. I have seen it first hand. I dont think it is right but it is the way society is . People can be very judgemental especially when they don't know a person . Also the media does not help when it comes to racial stereotypes.

I have to say that to say all east Indians are Muslim is a little bit of a stretch. Ok ... a big stretch. I have met many east Indians and their religious backgrounds range from Hindu, to Sikh , to Muslim, and some are .. yep .. you guessed it .. catholic.

It's just normal for society / people to make judgments on people / things they know nothing about. It's better to just be humble and educate yourselves on these kinds of topics. I know I have. I have learned so many things from my clients.

You and I know this but there are some dumb people out there. I know a guy, not a friend just an acquaintance, who believe that Sikh was Islamic faith. Yeah! I know! I couldn’t believe it.

People are ignorant. Some wake up and some are just happy to stay in their ignorance.

I would add "height" to the list, especially for males. Tall men generally have an advantage both in business and politics, and also when it comes to attracting women.
I don’t know about that one. It doesn’t help with police, getting a job or an apartment and if it does, I think it would fall under attractiveness.

I don’t see the ability to attract girls as a reason to call something privileged but that is just me.
