If they are allowed to do it then why not. Chicago did it too. Too bad the Leafs were not smart enough

Don't look now but those hapless Maple Leafs are finally number one in something. If 29 years is "shameful" - what is 19,786 days and climbing (or 54 years and counting) for Toronto??29 years now. LOL!
Forget the Leafs. They are sad sack as far as recent cups. Is that who you're comparing Montreal to?Don't look now but those hapless Maple Leafs are finally number one in something. If 29 years is "shameful" - what is 19,786 days and climbing (or 54 years and counting) for Toronto??
Well, the Lakers...but they brought that with them from Minnesota. The only team that I know of that is named for a body of water. (Along with the Bucs and (Devil) Rays.)
Minnesota is the Land of Lakes. But the team was not named after a particular body of water.Well, the Lakers...but they brought that with them from Minnesota.
First time that I heard it mentioned was by darts. I've asked him what it is but he's never answered. My takeaway is that he was BSing. There is no system.I googled the "Montreal system" and all I could find was:
metro
transit
school
train
tunnel
transportation
bus
sewer
rail
Did somebody make up this "Montreal system" as it pertains to the Habs?
Darts didn't answer a reasonable question?First time that I heard it mentioned was by darts. I've asked him what it is but he's never answered.
As as lifelong Hab's fan I agree 100% that going 29 years between Stanley Cup wins is not anything to be proud of as a franchise. Montreal has made many mistakes since the glory years of the six Cup wins in the1970's, and the one-off wins in 1986 and 1993. Bad trades, poor draft choices, bad coaching, at times indifferent ownership - have resulted in years of not particularly impressive seasons.I looked it up.
Surprise, surprise. Montreal is currently in their longest drought of no cups, 29 years and counting.. And their 2nd longest was only 12 years, from 1932-1943. They are obliterating their previous futility record.
As I said, regardless of what the Leafs drought is, Montreal fans have no reason to gloat.
(I'd better hope that they don't win 4 in a row.)
For sure, it is always OK to gloat after a series win. I was referring to Montreal fans gloating about the Leafs not winning the cup in 53 years. A franchise renowned for winning, that has now gone almost 30 years without winning, as you said, has no reason to gloat about another team's drought. As as lifelong Hab's fan I agree 100% that going 29 years between Stanley Cup wins is not anything to be proud of as a franchise. But you are 100% wrong about Hab's fans not having a reason to gloat as anytime the Habs beat the Maple Leafs in the playoffs it is cause for celebration. (Especially if they go on to make it to the Cup final) And when it happens against a Leaf's team that was supposed to win easily in 4 straight - well that is just "priceless"
And as far as the Hab's winning four in a row - hell if a Toronto Maple Leaf's team was the last to accomplish that feat how hard can it really be???
Forget about not replying to me or even another of the "usual suspects", he ducks/turtles/hides/slinks away whenever anybody challenges a post of his. And as we all know, sometimes he just deletes entire threads instead of standing up for himself.Darts didn't answer a reasonable question?
I, for one, am shocked.

They only hire French-speaking GMs and head coaches. I think that's it. I think I nailed it. That's the Montreal system.I googled the "Montreal system" and all I could find was:

Montreal has now won 11 playoff series since 2004. Toronto has won none. Is that recent enough for you?For sure, it is always OK to gloat after a series win. "Due to a modified playoff format held in 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Campbell Bowl was awarded to the Montreal Canadiens after they defeated the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Semifinals."It’s not all about winning the cup. Although it is a big part of it.
Hey professor, is it ok if I point out when you don't reply to questions/challenges from non-"usual suspects"?I answer question from members who actually understand the answers.
I always respect your opinions and posts maurice, but again, if a Montreal fan has to resort to comparing their team to the Leafs it's scraping the bottom of the playoff barrel. Nobody is trying to defend the Leafs' record compared to Montreal's. There is no discussion to be had, so I don't understand having to even bring up the Leafs. I have consistently only discussed Montreal's performance in the last 30 years compared to Montreal's overall reputation/legacy. No other NHL teams need to be discussed. Comparing Montreal to Toronto is basically an admission of Montreal's futility.Montreal has now won 11 playoff series since 2004. Toronto has won none. Is that recent enough for you?
Montreal has now went 0 years since reaching the final. Toronto has went 54 years. Is that recent?
It’s not all about winning the cup. Although it is a big part of it. But Toronto’s run since 2004 is nearly historic.
